I was reading the comments below and someone pointed out wanting to see the original raw image files.

...I gotta agree. That one was clearly switched to a bw pic, but I wonder how much touching up was done to get it to look that way?

I gather the contrast levels were cleverly manipulated to really give it an oompf. But you can't really manipulate and fix a bad exposure. That photo is so much more that, though. It's also the "feeling" it gives the viewers. And this is heart-stopping.

Probably. Wasn't knocking the pic, but it was a question that came to mind.

I just saw an underwater shot on Natgeo's IG and that one was in color, so I could get an idea of where the haze came from in this pic.

I wonder if Damnata see this. There is one of Romania that I really like. The whale one is absolutely breath taking. It was taken by accident. The photographer was taking a picture of the whale's head when the whale turned around and swam away instead. Accidental shot is the best. So cool!
