"Police say they came to the scene after an anonymous 911 caller reported a man threatening him with a gun."

"According to cell phone video, cops tackled Sterling after it was believed Sterling had a gun."

Who was Alton Sterling? What we know so far about the man killed by Baton Rouge police

"Sterling had been living for the past few months at the Living Waters Outreach Ministries transitional shelter, residents there said."

"Sterling was a registered sex offender, after a 2000 conviction for carnal knowledge of a juvenile, records show. The circumstances of the case were not immediately clear. Records say he was released for his offense in October 2004."

"He was previously arrested for aggravated battery, criminal damage to property, unauthorized entry and domestic abuse battery, records show. In 2009, he was sentenced to five years in prison for marijuana possession and for carrying an illegal weapon with a controlled dangerous substance.

Family members said he was on probation when he died and would not have been allowed to carry a gun."

"Sandra Sterling, his aunt, told CNN he was a "gentle giant.""

Word of caution:

"Gentle Giants" don't have rap sheets and criminal convictions such as Alton Sterling had.

Nice try, no dice.

This will not stop until Americans stand up. The man's record does not justify trigger-happy, violent, and murderous cops' behavior. They are violating our rights and are behaving illegally. It's not even a matter of emotion. It's a case of law, and the public is increasingly unawares of their own rights which makes it that much easier for figures of authority to violate them.

There's no textbook way for mourning the death of a family member...

Especially given how it happened..

Also given how the media strategizes when these types of incidents happen.

Shock, anger, disgust, hurt.. Whatever the case, this is a grave injustice. His children witnessed this. Whatever is fueling them to face the world to speak up and cry out about what happened, it is what it is.

We cant talk about what's not practical when a death happens.

Wtf was that word of caution in the article. "Gentle giants don't have rap sheets. Nice try, no dice" so that means he deserved to die?? Wtf
Nooooo that's NOT what that means.

It means that to call him, a convicted felon a "Gentle Giant" is in error, and wishful thinking.

Seems you glossed over other important details.

Such as he was a registered sex offender, among other things.

read it.

Police dispatch reveals that the 911 caller to this incident said the man had a gun in

his pocket (and apparently had threatened him (or her), or someone else)

Warning Graphic

In slow motion, you can see the cop remove the gun.

To be perfectly honest, the moral of the story is really just the same as it has always been.

1. Never give a man, any man, especially a lawman, with a loaded gun, a good reason to shoot ya.

Seriously, it doesn't matter what the law says if you're dead, and buried six fee under pushin' up daisies.

(Or getting snorted by Keith Richards, if the Bar-B is your thing.)

2. When confronted by the law, play it cool and don't do anything stupid. Like resisting arrest, charging the

cop, trying to get his gun, running from the law, etc. etc. Doing so will only make matters worse for you

at best, or, again, fertilizing the lawn or a trip through Keefs nose.

Your best bet is to obey the law. Disobey it, and you can expect trouble.

Furthermore, defending a criminal as has been seen done in the past, suggests that

you are either ignorant, naive or just plain stupid.

And if watching what happens to other people who tempt the law or tempt another to kill,

whether it be with a gun, a knife, a car, or whatever, and you haven't learned anything by now,

then don't be surprised when your number's up.

The number one reason why so many get themselves killed is because they haven't learned

the fatal lessons repeated over and over and over, again.

It won't be long before it happens, again. You can count on that.

In this case:

Sterling was not cooperating and already a suspect before the cops arrived.

Had he cooperated, he'd be in jail, but he'd still be alive.

Remember, felons are not allowed by law to own or possess a gun.

IF in fact, evidence proves that a IS what he had in his pocket, then he would have

been violating the law, already, and no cop is going to take chances, risking his/her

life and will do what is necessary to defend themselves. That is to be expected.

To think otherwise, is utter foolishness.

To be perfectly honest, I cannot help but wonder if the officer had accidentally discharged

his weapon. Possibly due to his partner. When the gun went off, the officer went full automatic

mode and continued shooting, thinking that the victim may have fired those first shots.

All that happened in about 10 seconds. Adrenaline plus a dangerous situation escalating out

of control is a perfect concoction for an outcome like this.

As the video clearly shows, Sterling had not yet been cuffed and posed a real potential

threat to those officers. Why else would the officer continue to shoot Stirling?

Just best not to play games with an officer.

Shit like this begs the question "are these officers even cut out for this job?"

I can only imagine how psychologically tolling being a cop is- all the crazy shit you see, crazy fucks targeting you just because you're the police, etc. They're the ones who see the dredges of humanity quite often.

That said, in these cases of excessive force, questionable actions, and going too far with unnecessarily whipping out the gun, it's like the job has gotten to them and they're just going apeshit based on these now skewed perceptions.

Politics aside, this could be why they justify keeping these officers around after "administrative leave" and the like. Their records were spotless prior, but it's like shit got to them and they're snapping, doing all this fucked up shit.

But the same goes with murderers. They gotta start somewhere...

Basically, they start seeing their officers get mentally fucked, yank them off the damned streets. No more patrolling. Office work for you, yo.

Also, side note, over the last decade or two, basic respect toward others, especially any sort of authority figure, has gone down the tubes. This goes back to the entitlement era- "I can do what I want, fuck you." This also has to be frustrating for anyone in that position. "Hey yo, I'm here to enforce the law. You're doing something unlawful. Knock it off."

"Fuck you, po po! I'm gonna fight you instead and shoot at you because I can do what I want!" Rinse and repeat.

Would add to more of the mental and emotional health of some of these guys who get all extreme.
