Clubbing While NOT Single

So, my Sea-Goat and I went out earlier this year with a group of people and his friends to celebrate his good-friend Pisces' birthday.

We went clubbing. Believe it or not, that was MY first time ever clubbing (I've only ever been to private dance parties), and it was my Sea-Goat's first time clubbing with me.

I didn't drink at all (except SO MUCH water to stay hydrated.) My Sea-Goat did drink.

There was a live DJ, and the room was dark with the exception of dim lights at the bar and strobe and laser lights on the dance floor. IT WAS SO MUCH FUN! OMG!

Okay, so I may have mentioned this before, but I LOOOOOOVE TO DANCE! Early on in the evening, my Sea-Goat and I were the only ones on the dance floor. I was disappointed because I expected more people to be dancing, but I later realized that it was too early in the evening (9PM) and people starting flooding the dance floor later around 10ish.

I danced all night for four hours straight. My outfit was drenched, my ankles were sore, and my face flushed pink by the end of it.

Now, I learned something new about the dynamic between my Sea-Goat and I, something I never considered before but was happy to discover: We aren't possessive in the club. Meaning? There were couples there who would ONLY dance with each other! Of course, that's their business but it seemed so lame to me! There were so many people with different dance style s, why would one limit themselves like that? I danced with many different people (mostly guys as the girls were so clicky.) My Sea-Goat was cool with it (there was no touching.) I even pointed out girls for my Sea-Goat to dance with. I like watching him dance with other people.

At first, guys would ask for my number and flirt, but I just told them that we should just have fun. I was feeling a little frustrated because surely a guy and girl can dance without it leading to more? That advantage exists if your club while not single - no pressure or tension or ulterior motives - just dancing.

Soon, it seemed as though people got that I just wanted to dance and have fun with various individuals. I hopped from person to person, feeling myself and just enjoying the experience, giving them hugs and thanking them for the dance when we were done. I danced goofy, I did old-school moves, I mixed it up. I didn't care if the guy was gay, hunky, sexy, nerdy, chubby, older...it was about dancing and dancing Unites people. Well, not ALL people...

At one point, there was a group of girls and one of the girls was dancing with a guy. I, having picked up on some social rules of clubbing, assessed the situation to see if the guy was her boyfriend and if the girl was possessive. A song with a heavy bass came on, and I danced along side them, swirling, popping my booty, and looking back at it. The guy then stopped dancing with the girl and turned to dance with me, cheering me on. The group of girls all started clapping and laughing and telling me to "get it" including the girl whom I techincially stole the guy from. I switched between dancing with the guy and dancing with her. I love projecting sexual energy with another woman. All in that group were having fun - all but one girl.

You know how some girls seem overly comfortable as though they don't want to be there? She was obviously the "Queen Bee" as all female groups have one who is always the center of attention. I thought she was very cute, but she seemed "so over it." She barely moved, as though she was too cool to actually dance. She didn't appreciate that I had stolen her friends' attention away from her. She just glared at me and didn't join in when the girls and the guy and I tore up the dance floor.

That happened a few other times throughout the night where a girl decided she didn't like me or want me around. It was a bummer of a vibe and a waste of time because the whole point is to have fun. Or is that only the case when you aren't actually trying to hook up? The competitive sexual energy people have is irrelevant to you if you aren't competing. That gives you an ironic advantage because then your positive energy consumes you and that attracts the guys to you because you just KNOW you're the sh it.

I stepped away for a bit to cool off and recharge my emotional batteries. Guys walked by and told me I was fantastic at dancing, that they'd been watching me and that I was mesmerizing and beautiful. That fired me up to not let the negative vibes get to me, and I went back on the dance floor to shine and shine with other people.

The night wound down, and as the birthday party that I had arrived with were leaving - that group of girls walked by and told me I did a great job dancing. Queen Bee rolled her eyes and walked right passed me not saying a word. Oh well. At that point, nothing was going to get to me.

Clubbing really isn't my scene, and I haven't been back since. My Sea-Goat can only enjoy mainstream clubbing music when he drinks, so he's not into it either. But when I'm there, I get caught up in all of the energy, and I cannot sit still. I HAVE TO DANCE. But knowning that I'm already taken gives me even MORE freedom because it takes the awkward sexual tension out of it, and I can just purely interact with someone else. I can just go back to my Sea-Goat, grab onto him when I really want to get sexy, and then go and dance flirty with other guys (and girls) for the fun of it.

Hah! Another advantage I have when clubbing is that I don't drink. But when everyone else is, they just ASSUME you've been drinking, too, and that allows me to just be myself and have fun with no judgement.

I love going clubbing with my gbf! My dude is not into the club scene whatsoever. And the worst part about the club is when your trying to dance and some rando sneaks up from behind to grind his hard on into your ass...no thanks.

Partying with my gbf means we are in West Hollywood at his favorite spots, pump and the abbey. It's so freeing to let loose around people you know aren't looking to fuck you.
