Could you do it?

If it were me though, dying I mean, I'd want the plug pulled no question. I would not want my family and friends last memories to be of me like that.

Agreed, having family seeing you laying there, in a coma, or whatever would be tough and I'd want to die also .. however, it would mean that one of them would have to pull a plug and I don't think I could leave them with such a burden.

I'd likely commit suicide before I got to that point.

I've put animals to sleep before .. same thing I suppose.

Does it being a human make it a different set of circumstances?

hmmph!

it's not like it is in the movies.

if a person is on life support and can not live on their own power, they will naturally expire once taken off. thus, it'd be similar to asking yourself, if your loved one were lying half-dead on the floor and needed cpr perpetually to survive, would you perpetually give them cpr?

you also have to keep in mind that life support doesn't suspend life. it's a support, not a "death stopper."

in most cases when someone is on life support, their organs will gradually begin to fail. their pulse will slow. it's a slow and agonizing process.

during this failure, their body will begin to decay and show the signs/smells of death. it's all very subtle and all too real.

leaving your loved one on life support is a beautiful, sacrificing thing. it's almost worst than death.

i pray none of you have to experience it or have to be faced with the choice.

i do recommend that people talk to their loved ones, more than one person, and make their wishes known regarding organ donation. for those that say no, keep in mind that in the US, after you die, an autopsy is mandatory in almost every case. you could be over the age of 100 and they will autopsy your body.

during an autopsy, they remove and examine each of your organs. they then put them in "baggies" and put them back into your body...like a whole chicken or turkey....there's always a package of gizzards and a neckbone in the cavity some where.

they make an incision near your scalp and the pull your face down around your neck. they then take your brain out and weigh it too. so considering all that, become an organ donor please.

—I don't give/create life, why would I take one??

Q is talking about creating life, you are talking about saving a life. There is a difference.

How deep in the rabbit hole does this actually go?

Maybe the person was suppose to die .. and you saved it in this dimension, which prevented its creation in another because it didn't move on.

Maybe we aren't suppose to pull plugs, no matter the circumstances because maybe a soul is suppose to be reincarnated at a very specific time, and if you let it pass now, then its out of sync with carnations.

Maybe this is how Jeffry Dahmers are made .. we fuck it up, without realizing.

I see where you're coming from P. Having said that, I would never let a "what if?" prevent me from trying to save someone's life if I were able.

Do you believe in reincarnation P?

I get what Ian means.

Q said he doesn't give or create life, so he won't take it. But on the flip side, he doesn't take/destroy life either, so why save it?

I'm simply clarifying lol But I personally could take life, if push came to shove...it would have to be the most dire of circumstances though!

Ah ok, I guess I misunderstood. Taking a life though is not the same as saving one. Then again how do you know when it's time to let go, to give up hope?

But I did. I grew her within myself, under my heart. I bore her into this world. I knew her like I knew my own self. And there was nothing left of her. Nothing left of my angel. And if you knew her, really knew her, she'd not have wanted to be like that. Not in a million years. When those doctors said her brain was dead, my world collapsed. So I honored her, I climbed into that bed with her and held her and cried, told her how proud I was to be her Mother. And I held my CHILD in my arms as she died. And I will never, not until my dying day forget that.

I do too, letting go of them is the hardest thing. I felt so incredibly lost when the ex started taking the kids for the weekend. I went bananas. Especially with my bubby being diabetic. I'd actually be sick to my stomach wondering if she ate right, did she get her shots, on and on and on with it.
Two is such a sweet age. It really is. Their personality really comes out. Mobile, back sassing from time to time, tantrums. Wouldn't have traded it for the world.
My eldest is an Aqua.

If people are on life support then I would stay by their side till they are at their final moment. Why, give up and force them to die. Its much like depressed people who are on the verge of suicide. Why kill yourself when it only takes a specific, random amount of time till the next awakening occurs.

If the person is on their death bed dying from blood cancer, and they say, "I am about to die, and I know its hard for you to notice me at my weakest of state, but I only ask for one last favor...I want you to end the pain, please". Then I would simply nod no because they have given up... I would rather sit beides him or her till they gave off their last breath, but everyone is different...ah well.
