Yet still answering the question...

If a condiment is something used to improve or enhance the taste or enjoyment of food,

Which is the superior condiment?

Butter!

You do ralize that butter that is used to add flavor, is "salted butter"... right?

Haha! Salt triumphs over all. ALL!

I do however have to go 😛

So I'll make my point. I agree with all of you. You guys all have a great selection of condiments.

There are a great many things that could be used to —enhance?? the taste or enjoyment of food (what is —food?? anyway?) that would not typically be considered condiments or found on the average grocery store shelf. Anything that fits the definition above is fair game.

Addressing the question of Superior condiments and going by the basic and loose definition which is enhancing the taste or enjoyment of food. By all right yes Butter, Lemon, Olive Oil, Honey, Salt are all amazing condiments I use all of them on a daily basis and they add flavour to my food it's amazing and I love food.

But why do we add condiments? It's basically to enjoy food isn't it? So on that note I can acknowledge the health benefits and practical uses and the processes behind these said condiments. If we really want to get into it then I have already stated the health benefits of shrooms. They are so natural as someone pointed your dogs and kids could pick it. It is just an all-round natural condiment and food that can even be grown in your own backyard. They've been championed since ancient times for that matter so if we were to base it that... well it's superior. In fact I'd suspect cavemen to be tripping out on shrooms, being happy and healthy!

Now I won't argue about the bad side of drugs we all know it exists but so do anything in excess but scientific studies does suggest stability and make you more aweomse. There is no addiction associated with it apart from your usual abusers. I do like to chow on a whopper at times myself.

So it reasons to stand, if we don't get overly technical with the term condiment of course, that shrooms while by itself is ingestible, it can be fashioned into tea (there's lots of tea inspired recipies in asian cuisine), it can be used as a regular ingredient in place of regular mushrooms like pizza! Great pick-me-up. It can be fashioned into sauce, I love it with steaks. Love Italian? no worries! In the pasta it goes. Even if you fancy something sweet you can ground the shrooms and have it with your favourite chocolate milkshake or better yet it can be part of anything in that form! AMAZING!

All that aside this is why all your condiments are amazing because they can all achieve this. But what's my x-factor? The psychological part and there is psychology to eating!! Shrooms just have that psychadelic factor and spiritual factor that makes it so much more awesomeballs.

Don't leave it to me though but some scientists have agreed in general it has some long lasting positive spiritual effects and that just tops it for me.

Yeh there's something dodgy on the look about his face, but at least the catfish isn't rubbing him the wrong way if that's the case!

Congratulations to all of the players on another excellent debate. Although far from an all-inclusive list, we enjoyed celebrity appearances by Michelle Obama, Paula Deen, Sendhil Ramamurthy, Eric Northman, and no less a personage than (a very amorous) SpongeBob SquarePants. It appears we must be doing something right!

It was for the express purpose of opening the floor to such creative thinking as Purr demonstrated in her latter questions that the topic was phrased in the stated manner. Per the criteria, a sound (and entertaining) argument could have rather easily been made on the behalf of fire, stoves, ovens, microwaves, blenders, mixers, barbeque grills, rice cookers, toasters, and water as condiments. Refrigerators and freezers would not qualify, as they function only to preserve, not improve or enhance.

One of the most common errors seen in any debate is the failure on the part of a given debater to ensure the internal consistency of his or her argument. Using Purrrr??s example above, the inclusion of refrigerator and freezer are internally inconsistent in that they are included with her examples but do not satisfy the mandated criteria. That the argument a debater chooses for a given position be void of any self-defeating inconsistencies is a fundamental component of any sound argument.

The topic was drafted in such a manner that it intentionally lacked a definite answer. As the individual debaters are being judged only against each other, the winner??s choice of condiment and defense thereof need not be the best in the world; it only needs to be better than his/her competition. It is for this reason that the inappropriate inclusion of the refrigerator and freezer might prove completely immaterial in a debate if no other debater(s) brought this oversight to the fore and utilised it to their respective advantage.

As a condiment was defined for the purpose of this debate as —something used to improve or enhance the taste or enjoyment of food,?? the superior condiment must necessarily be the one that most improves or enhances the taste or enjoyment of food. Most, as it is here applied, necessarily indicates that the utilisation of the condiment in question brings about the greatest improvement in the taste or enjoyment of those foods to which it is applied and/or that it is reasonably applicable to the greatest variety of foods. Versatility, by definition, is a key component of superiority when the question revolves around the utilisation of a particular —something?? as an additive. Requiring the participants in a debate to correctly identify these nuances and to formulate their arguments accordingly does not constitute any form of secret criteria; it is fundamental to the very nature of debate itself.

The player who best demonstrated that his chosen condiment most improved or enhanced the taste or enjoyment of the most food was NotYourAverageAquarius. Congratulations on winning your 10 points.

The challenge will be posted at 9PM EST this evening. The vote will occur as soon as the winner of the challenge is known.

Congrats!

Refrigerators enhance the enjoyment of jello, no? Lol

But yeah, if I had chosen water, what would there have been to debate? It would be like this:

Opening Argument: Water is the superior condiment because without drinking it, we'd all be dead within days.

*someone decides to rebut*

Actually...wait...no..................ah, fuck.

/debate

Water would have made for a very interesting choice.

Oh, and some people like to eat frozen cookies or chips, so they put them in the freezer not to preserve them, but to enhance their enjoyment of them. Also, if you're making homemade popsicles, you use a freezer to enhance your enjoyment of them.

So refrigerators and freezers aren't used solely to preserve, and would've been valid choices. 😄

I'm not trying to hassle you, or anything. You seem a little irritated with me. It wasn't my intention to irritate you. I'm just explaining why I included those two examples.

I will grant you could reasonably argue refrigerating Jell-O and freezing cookies, chips, and/or popsicles might improve your enjoyment of them.

rson to provide proof of a DXP member??s Mercury placement along with a sample of their writing per the example below will win 5 points and immunity from being voted off during the vote that will immediately follow. You must provide examples of all 12 Mercury placements. The points awarded for the immunity challenge will increase by 1 for each subsequent challenge.

You may not use Purrrr or Tiziani as examples. You may not use yourself as an example. You may use a writing sample in which the Mercury placement is revealed in the sample itself. Writing samples must be at least 4 full, single-spaced lines in length. Good luck!

Mercury in Libra 🙂

Haha someone else said that to me two days ago. I didn't realise it came off like that. It is what it is, I guess. I may slap people around every now and then, but only the ones where I actually see something in them that I like or reminds me of someone in my life.

As for the stuff I don't like or consider a waste, well I've already said my piece.

Safe to say when someone on here (and I mean anyone) takes themselves too seriously or tries to control everyone else's opinion just because it doesn't fit in with how they like the scenery to be, then that's a sad story to me. Nothing sadder than when you can't laugh at yourself. I had to learn that in my own time, again and again and again.

Knew it. Cancer Merc here. Just had to do a little translating. 😛

I know what you mean. I think Mercury in Libra and Mercury in Cancer are the most naturally accomodating Mercury signs of all. Both are very good at making people feel comfortable with the way they communicate, so they can be very persuasive. The problem is that both are hesitant to express their full opinions at times to avoid conflict, which causes major problems later, IME. Sort of a blessing and a curse. It's hard to find the right balance between being too careful/indirect and too blunt, at times.
