What is your family background? And do you have any famous historical figures in your family history?

I'm part English, Irish, Welsh and two Native American tribes Cherokee and Seneca-Cayuga. I'm related to John Adams and John Quincy Adams. John Adams was against slavery before it was popular to do so and John Quincy Adams was the first President to lose by popular vote but still win because of the electoral college. That's all I know right now, I will have to do some more researching.

Well lets see, I am German, Irish, Dutch, and Cherokee Indian. Mainly German and Irish, there is more but I dont recall what without looking in our family geneology. My great grandfather sold the plans to John Deer for his famous tractor, He was the original inventor. I am a direct descendant of General Grant of the revolutionary war. And my grandfather is Gene Autrey. My grandmother never learned to drive (she is gone now) and she came accross the planes in a covered wagon when she was a girl. just goes to show you in three generations we have gone from covered wagons (my grandmother), to televisions and automobiles (my mother), to the computer and technical age. (me). Who knows what my sons generation will bring us.

My Mother's father's family was originally from Britain, but were one of the first families to settle Long Island. My great grandfather on my mother's mothers's side came over from Germany before WWII. His name's written on a plaque at Ellis Island, but that's incorrect because he actually came across first class and those who travel first class didn't need to go through immigration centers. I have family who fought on both sides of the war. My Great grandfather on my grandmother's side lost his brother and brother in law in the war. His brother was in the air force and was shot down, and his brother in law was infantry who was captured by Russians and never heard from again. My Great grandfather on my grandfather's side was in the merchant marines and was hit by a kamikaze. I don't know much about my father's side of the family except that my Great grandmother came over to NY from Ireland and married into an Italian family from Brooklyn.
