Hate for Obama

Looking from the outside, I think Obama is losing his popularity. Will Obama be hated as GW Bush at the end of his tenure by americans?

Has there ever been a truly loved Murican president? I mean in the age of whistleblowers and know-it-alls, not talking about the good ol' days when they got away with shit.

Everyone hates whatever President for whatever reason.

Some of it I blame on ignorance, really. People expect a lot of things to happen immediately. Some of the things we're trying to recover from happened decades ago and are not finally being addressed.

I just think people don't seem to realize that being President isn't as easy as one thinks. They have goals when they get to office, but them actually happening is another story- not because they won't follow through, but because you got congress and all that shit to work through.

So while a candidate may have every intention of doing what they say, getting it done is another feat.

And then some don't give a shit. All of it is ridiculous and corrupt. We have a bunch of old assholes keeping this country from progressing and getting better.

I know Obama isn't super spectacular, but I gotta give the guy props for cleaning up some of Bush's mess and beyond by nipping banks and credit card companies in the ass, putting the same smack down on insurance companies- all industries that have been screwing us over for some time.

It's not a ton, but I'm glad SOMEONE finally did something, shit. I'm on the fence about where I stand with him- I know he's made some questionable decisions, but at the same time, gotta give props to the guy for getting some stuff done that benefited us.

I seriously doubt he'll have as much "hate" as Bush though. Obama's "haters" are people who are just pissed that he magically couldn't fix everything they see wrong with our country. Bush was hated because he created a shit ton of financial issues that we're still stuck trying to correct. With Bush, I remember more bad than good, whereas Obama is a wash overall.

then again, if you look through history a bit, Jimmy Carter got alot of HATE because he wasn't considered strong enough, and looked down as weak. They made fun of his peanut farm brother, or about his family members and of him. Politicians are sharks out there.

You are going to have to help me out with the "massive tax hikes" and how ACA is crippling small medical businesses. My tax rates haven't gone up, my gas bill is way down, I have made a ton of money in the stock markets. I got laid off last December. I took a month off to play, and got a new job within a couple of weeks of when I started seriously looking. And here is an interesting idea. The reason small medical businesses are "going out of business" is that they are being consumed by the big medical players, because the big guys like making all those really big bucks.

One of the major "problems" Obama has is his measured, thoughtful approach to his policies. The USA is in an era where bombast is baseline, verbal firebombing the expectation, and being totally clueless is SOP. I would speculate that in 20+ years people are going to be looking back at the Obama admin in a much different, and positive, light than they do now. A fine example would be the Reagan admin. Mr. Reagan did some important things, there is no doubt. On the other hand, the Cold War was re-ignited by w, who viewed Reagan as a personal hero. Reaganomics and Trickle Down processes have proven to be a disaster for the middle class. There are an awful lot of folks in this part of the world that give Reagan near God-like stature, but the reality is that he was just so so in his vision for the country, and great at stage management.

Being the US President must be Hell

They all go in looking relatively young and fresh, and come out grey-haired old men.

Because you don't. You clearly know nothing about Medicare or Medicaid if you think it's sabotaging anything. It's not, sorry to say.

My understanding was that the insurance companies' backlash was "crippling" small businesses. And last I heard, the ACA actually had more support now that it's gradually rolling out and getting organized because there are a lot of people out there who now have insurance who couldn't get it/afford it before. All the horror stories were from experiences with insurance companies and their existing plans changing because they're pissed the government is making them provide healthcare to everyone. Before, everyone was subject to medical underwriting. Insurance shouldn't be an option just for some because the companies are more concerned about profit than providing actual services. THAT has been a problem for quite some time and it's nice to see someone actually doing something about it.

The ACA isn't perfect, but I give it props for putting the insurance companies in place. It's been ridiculous since Nixon gave them a free for all, thus screwing us all over.

Uh, this is ALREADY happening. It was happening long before the ACA. Going to the ER meant like a $ 900- $ 1200 bill easily. This isn't including any serious tests or procedures if they had to be done.

And your examples above in regard to taxes and the like sound more like a state issue than a federal one. How your state chooses to run things because of the current presidential admin is on them.

Like dofacc said, I haven't seen any of the problems that you've stated and I live in one of the most expensive states in the union. :/ My taxes haven't hiked and I have health insurance now.

Tax hikes in my state were increased after the Medicaid expansion was denied. Also, preventing any worker from claiming themselves on taxes anymore = raise in taxes. Nearly 1/3 of my income is taxed as a single female. Not to mention the double tax on businesses plus the ACA sur tax charge.


So, the dufus' in your state can't budget, and they want to blame Obama for their failures. Your STATE officials need to held accountable for their decisions. Send the mail to the right mail box.
I have paid nearly 1/3 of my income in income taxes for as far back as I can remember. w's tax reduction netted me less than $ 15 a month. The income tax rates have not changed significantly for a long time. Businesses being "double taxed," again, very old news.
I have no idea what you mean when you say a worker can't claim themselves on their taxes. Gee, I don't seem to have had any trouble claiming myself on my taxes.

As for small business, most cannot accept Medicaid and some cannot accept medicare. The ACA enacted a number of plans that are only accepted at larger corporations.

The one specifically not accepted where I work is the BCBS HMO now.


You are going to have to show me where small providers can't take medicare/medicaid. Lots of them won't, but they won't because they don't make enough money. Our medical providers as a whole are plain greedy bastards!


And to Exactly the point, BCBS is a private, for profit place. Not only is our medical system based on greed, it also have very large inefficiency factor built in. Transparency is the enemy of that system, that way they can bill what they want when they want. Real competition is what our system needs, and ACA is a good first step in that direction.

Small business are a staple in small communities and the doctors are trusted because they know your mom, your grandma, your children. They know your life and don't send you out for unnecessary testing to comply with new regulations that keep being added every single day. They handle it all and they do it with diligence.


We live in an urban society. Get used to it. And get real, patients get turfed off to specialist time, after time, after time. You ever meet the radiologist that read that xray your had? Bet not. This is how our medical system has worked for decades. It works to make the providers rich, not to provide medical care to the American people.

yep, in the U.S. anyways, it's the only way a small minority of concentrated wealth and power that controls and owns everything can maintain a system where their needs are met and the powerless public pays for it.
