somewhere in the Transylvanian alps there is a village missing an idiot.
but it found DXP.

Apologies, I wondered off before I could finish the gist, sir 😛

So I went in the Dentist's office few hrs ago, thinking it would be a case of "you've been bad, you will need fillings here, here and here"
instead, it turns out to be "your wisdom tooth is done, gotta come out now".

So I says yea, whatever, let do this, head back to work into meetings I couldn't cancel. While this dude is yapping away in the meeting, I realise how much blood I was guzzling down (blood from the big hole where the tooth was taken out) cos I couldn't get this dude to shut the hell up so I could go spit and doing it in a tissue would have scared everyone I'm sure.

Now I'm totally not hungry (I've had no food all day btw) so all the blood must have filled me up?

Should I be worried?

And eeeeewwwwwwwwwwwwwwwww

Nah, you are fine. If you actually get a bunch of blood into your stomach, it can make you vomit, but as for doing real harm, there will be none.

You will essentially digest the stuff, and that will be that. If you think about it, pretty much all animal products will contain some blood, so you are ingesting blood all the time. This assumes you aren't a strict vegan.

Might turn your stool dark for a day or two.

Zen, didn't your dentist give you instructions on controlling the bleeding?

Some slight bleeding for the first day or so is normal. A small amount of blood is mixed with spit, which will make it look like a lot more blood than it really is. Place a moistened gauze pad on the extraction site, and try and keep firm pressure on it. If the bleeding hasn't stopped, moisten a tea bag with water and fold it in half and bite down on it for 30 minutes. Tannic acid in black tea helps stop bleeding. If the bleeding has not slowed or stopped after a couple of hours, call your dentist immediately!

Don't rinse until the next day and when you do, do it very gently 4 times a day using warm salt water. Forceful spitting out could dislodge the blood clot. Rinse after every meal. Be very careful also with brushing. Wipe around the extraction site with a clean and wet gauze pad, and take care not to disturb the clot.

^ sssshhhh, AA! that was a public secret.

Thanks everyone! Appreciate it...

Tammy, I got a leaflet that told me a few things about no smoking, no hot drinks, no rinsing for at least 5hrs, salt water mouthwash for 5 days, but not really enough. Made no mention of food so had to google the rest and take the rest from what you all said which was very helpful by the way.
It's the system we have here, very efficient in treating the problem but not enough info on prevention & maintenance.

There's no pain actually, but apparently, if I start feeling pain from today, then I may have a dry socket?
Kinda weak though as no proper foods, great for weight loss! wooo hoooo... bring on the minis (not one word, AA).

Skykomish, sounds sexy 😉

Glad to help 🙂

Which wisdom tooth was extracted —upper or lower? Was it impacted? Can you see if there is a clot over the hole? Does it have a foul smell or taste? Dry socket is very painful and needs to be medically treated by your dentist.

Has your appetite come back? You've probably had tons of suggestions, but (don't knock it) one of the best things is baby food. It's nutritional and all natural. The banana is really good. Also nutritional supplement drinks like Boost.

Oh and no straws either.

Evan! yay...

I see you're still alive .... 2 days later.
I thought you were dead anyway ... you were gone so long.

Yea P, still alive evidently, was catching up on work & sleep😄
Also, had to slap myself silly for being such a baby about a single tooth being yanked out.

Tammy, the baby food thing is a great one, already steal baby food from my friends/family, even before the tooth incident. I heard apple sauce too... say no more, I'm already stocked up!
No dry socket, as far as I know, too far back for me to see but no pain yet so yay, for now.

lolll. I had a feeling you were a Brit zenalchemy that is.
what gave it away, Lena?

James Tate is hslew— raed ho ! :-O
