I believe those ads are by people who pay for this forum that we use so freely.
For the user to be able to disable these ads at his/her own discretion, a fee would probably be required.
Or maybe you can try ad blockers.

They're not strictly ads, they're like pieces of the forum. if I try to block one with Adblock, it blocks the WHOLE page. Couldn't they at least find something better to promote? Those books are facepalm central.

Am I the only one irritated by the constant show of promoted/related/recent threads in the subforum I'm viewing at any time?
And on that note, what's with the shameless promotion of really crap products on Amazon (mainly books)?
