Me and friends are fans both series with the exception of my gem friend who's bias towards pokemon and calls digimon a rip. To which I disagree with him. The only similarities is the -mon suffix. If anything id say digimon copied tomagatchi. Two different franchises and different concepts as well as monsters. Pokemon have either 1,2, or 3 stages of evolution while digimon have 6 stages that only get infinitley stronger. Besides that they're capable of speech and are highly intelligent as they have the capabilites to make towns and cities ad well as think for themselves. That's a big one up since you're of understanding them instead of pokemon who can only say their name over and over again. But as for the animes. I honestly think digimon blows pokemon out of the water on this. Digimon had a far deeper story, much character development, a high reaching climax and conclusion, as well as better art and environment. Better than the pokemon anime which felt more like trainer and villain of the day and it got very repetitive as time went after maybe the third season. But as for the games, yeah pokemon won that. Digimon games are not that hard to understand and a it had a very well developed plot but gameplay mechanics is what rendered it behind and the fact it appealed to console gaming rather than handhelds. I admit I like the digimon world games with the exception of digimon world 2, dawn and dusk, and ds. But it's mechanics wefe based in turn based realtime which ofcered very little time to think of your next attack. I admit its a lot more realistic. But it proved to be a bit bothersome simply because they couldnt perfect it beyond close quarters. Pokemon games are fun straight up. Im not saying that because my prof pic is pikachu dressed up as charlie scene from HU. But its the truth. I loved generation II the most then gen III and then gen IV. I hate the newer gens, they look more like everyday objects. Its as if the designers ran out of ideas and couldnt think of a creature to make from something. Realting to the shows. Pokemon aired o. Cartoon network and wb. Digimon (the first three seasons) aired on Fox kids. Fox kids was not that good. Know these days digimin comes on wb and nicktoons to which I think is good so digimon will have a bigger fanbase and will help settle the feud thats been going on since 1999. But I like digimon for the anime and a few games as well as the creature designs (they're pretty badass). I like pokemon purely for the games and f

Well you had some good points in your post sniper. I waa actually a fan of Pokemon (anime) first before Digimon. I remember watching Pokemon season 1 while eating waffles before going to school every morning lol. Pokemon came out when I was 2nd grade. I even had the books & pikachu stuffed animal ( which I still have today). I didn't see Digimon til about 1999.

Now Digimon, to me had a deeper story even with the actual digimon has stories that lasted many episodes. As for the games of both series, I do like the Pokemon games more. They always evolved over the years & it amazes me how they can come with all these different games & stories. I kinda lost interest in Digimon after the 3rd season. Idk, I just didn't find it appealing anymore. The games seem like they were missing something

Pokemon and Digimon are my childhood.

Anime-wise:
Digimon owns on story, designs and how the mon concept got carried out.
Pokemon had themes that were great till Sinnoh started.
Game wise:
Pokemon is fucking near unstoppable.

xro wars: boy hunters was my last anime from the digimon side.
pokemon ...stopped caring mostly, though caught bits an pieces of various seasons.

Rped both, moderated groups for both, so much shit though I still love both.

Pokemon games are undisputedly better, but I prefer Digimon games. I've stopped watching and playing Pokemon a while ago, just as with the anime, I find the games to be the same thing over and over, just with better graphics and more monsters (I wonder for how long they'll keep adding them). Also, playing Pokemon competitively takes way too much time and energy, unless you cheat/PokeGen.

That maybe so. I've noticed the pokemon games all have the same goals and follow a too linear story rather than letting in branch in different directions. I've noticed that too. Does the same goals of the older games apply in say Pokemon X and Y as well as Omega Ruby and Alpha Sapphire?

Definitely. New games = old games, nothing ever changes in the world of Pokemon (save the whole mega evolution thing that spiced up the competitive side somewhat). Insanely repetitive. But, the franchise is still going strong after so many years so I can see why Nintendo doesn't dare to change the formula all that much. Would be horrible for them if they lost Pokemon. So they stick to what they know will sell, I guess.

That and mario games. I always felt even Digimon games had higher problems than just trying to be the best. I feel Pokemon fight for pride and self indulgence while Digimon fight because there are problems that threaten the digital world and the human world. And they need human Tamers to digivolve to stop the problems. Either one can still make sense.

You know what would be great for the next pokemon game? is creating your own human character from head to toe & creating your own pokemon from scratch!. Now that's a great idea since you they have us doing the same objectives every game. Imagine your own custom character & custom Pokemon. That with a $ 29.99 price point, choose your own story or adventure for your custom character & Pokemon; & you got something new & worth buying 😄

I liked Digimon's storytelling as it often delved into darker, mature subjects. I was particularly fond of Digimon Frontier when it aired years ago. It's English dub opening song is my favorite.

The Pokemon anime is straight up geared towards attracting new, younger generations of children year after year and it's not going to stop. It's always the same. The games are great though. Collecting cute and fuzzy creatures and making them battle is timeless.

Totally getting Pokemon Alpha Sapphire in the fall.

I do admit though the Digimon World games are pretty complicated. Just think of em as a complex tomagatchi game. Train, battle, feed, poop. It seems irritable since they dont live that long and then they die and the process repeats itself. Pokemon games werent like that in rpg format. But I think it can be worth it for lifespan since when they fade away their lifespan increases.
