back to the threads about "looks matter".yeah
and marketing
We use fake imagery as well as fake stories to manipulate peoples thinking
There are probably many people alive today who would believe the image on the left is what Jesus actually looked like.
images of McD's burgers on promo material always look amazingly fresh and appetizing but the reality is usually very different.
we readily accept fakeness

you're so right we've made it easy for fake news to come.
Then there's those cases when only one word changes false from truth. Like "first american woman in space" instead of "first woman in space".
Twitter:
/pol/ News Network
@polNewsNetwork1
To celebrate #InternationalWomensDay, Google decided to lie to everyone and pretend Sally Ride was the first woman in space.

when "freedom of speech" feeds fake news...
but the key is "according to". do we care for details when spreading fake news?
GOOGLE’S FEATURED SNIPPETS ARE WORSE THAN FAKE NEWS
The highlighted answers given prime placement over search results are often shockingly bad.

^^^^^^^^^ https://www.theguardian.com/technology/2017/mar/06/google-accused-spreading-fake-news
Conspiracy Or Fact ?! … .. as Google accused of helping to spread fake news.
those small differences:
"according to"
"probabaly".
When "VICE News" wrote on vicenews@twitter, "The opioid crisis would probably get worse under Trumpcar", the user Pirate_Life_@twitter wrote, "#fakenews, agenda driven propaganda".
For me "probably" means: this is an analysis. no news.
Does that mean people have no place for "probably" in their brains? cause I usually use such words as "most likely" and such. to emphasize I'm not 100% sure and can change my mind upon new info.

In a fake post about how the singer Adele told BBC news that Obama “should be in jail,” one of the top comments, posted Feb. 24, gushed over the fake news website.
“I’m impressed by how this website tells us like it is,” the commenter wrote. “No sensationalism at all – straight facts and well documented research, with sources and all. Thank god for the alternative media, that saves us from the mainstream garbage by showing us the truth.”
