Lovely day people.

Wanted to ask the crrative minds, do you all think there's any money in balloon/party decorators?

I have a very creative side and I've done party decorations for family members, mainly balloon decorations and making my own party decorations. I have a boutique that's doing fairly well but it doesn't really fullfill my creative side. I love crafting and love the things I can make for festivities.

What say you? Any input, questions or suggestions.

I have a friend who's into event decorating and she's amazing. Honestly there's not a lot of money from it, she mostly does it as a side hobby, but she does get to reuse a lot of her props and sets.

You need a really good client base and I see her running to all these parties and events just to keep up with things and some have stole her ideas so she's been trying to find ways to hide some of her setups.

actually I do....but you shouldn't just limit yourself to parties...you should be an event planner...that way you can do weddings... parties...the sky is the limit!

That would be the end goal. Event planning. I want to start small then grow. Because I do a lot of children's parties, I want my focus to be on that for now.

Weddings sound dreamy tho. I would def get carried away. Lol

Where I'm living now, there's not really a local market for it here. Some people have to travel cities over to find services. As far as the money, that's cool. I'm looking to scratch this creative itch I've been having. I've made my own arches for my balloon bases and all so keeping my props is a great thing.

Thanks guys.

Anymore input??

I owned a couple of businesses *start ups and some few year endeavors*.

Do you research on the market in your location. Write up a business plan, doesnt have to look professional or even done. But write one up and keep adding things to it things you see fit of course. Remember in the beginning cost effectiveness and your overall business savvy come into play. 50% of all businesses fail within the first year. You truly haven't had a successful business venture until you hit that 5 year mark where you can ACTUALLY start gaining steam. Being that networking is a huge part of your business i would definitely focus on that. Keep you material cost down and use what have at your disposal to the best of your abilities only adding more capital if you start to make a certain percentage. Coming up with a business plan and researching everything about the business will let you know where you stand before you step foot into the field.
I've actually been doin my research in this area. I notice they party a great deal but lack decor. No party planning in the city at all.

I have my old business plan from my boutique business. I'll use the same template from that.

I really need to look into wholesale places to purchase materials. Im pretty crafty so those balloon arch stands, Ive made 3 myself for under $ 20. Purchasing them costs about $ 100+.

One thing I'm not sure about is how to price my services. Dont wanna break the bank but I at least wanna make some profit.

I appreciate this. This is what I need. PICK MY BRAIN!!!! YEEEESSSS

Yes

Write up a business plan and go from there.

It seems like a business that you can start small, make some business cards and market online. Have people pay a deposit to cover the supplies, so it's not your money upfront, then the final payment is your profit (just an example). It's something you can do from home.

There are always events going on.

If you need help/ideas I'd be glad to help in any way I can.
That's exactly how I plan to go about it. Small and build.

Vistaprint is always my go to for business cards. Love them.

That deposit idea is great!!!

You all have me so geeked.

I appreciate. And yes, I will be sure to come to you for more guidance.
