In our province, most of the beaches are volcanic black sand. We have the famous Mt. Mayon near our place so the volcanic black sand beach resorts have become attached to the image of our place.

I have this really different idea. A relaxing black sand beach resort that would mostly cater to oldies, lovers and families. It will have a decent rock garden full of bonsai plants near the seashore. A spa where the masseurs use volcanic black sands or pilinut oil for their massage services. All the furnitures and ornaments will be made of abaca fiber. Free breakfast with matching ceylon tea of whatever flavor you may want it in will be served. A small french style cafe with pastries and cakes. Small tables and chairs will be available somewhere for some tea parties for children. The whole resort will also have some aromatic scent that will embrace the daily sea breeze coming from Pacific Ocean. Pictures of animals found in the area will be spread throughout the resort. As for lunch and dinner, the bestseller would be something seafood. A small fish spa will be found also near the rock garden.

It will be a Pacific getaway near some famous volcano that will be a soothing experience worth coming back!

Yes. 🙂 Beautiful scenery it is. We have a beautiful volcano overlooking Pacific Ocean and the resort will be located on a black sand beach. There are no honest to goodness black sand beach resorts in the world yet, afaik...

That's interesting. If you find the textures of what you have put down you can always send it to a CG 3D artist and have them mock up a scale render for presentation. I can try my hand at it yet I've still got a way to go in terms of learning how to render landscapes properly.

Thanks man but I don't understand some of the words. @_@

*CG 3D artist

Anyway, I think I have a name for it already: "Elemi Black Sand Resorts & Spa"

Elemi means "Keeper of the Spirit."

The features of the resort are the following:

*volcanic black sand beach
*rock garden by the beach with cute bonsai plants, sprinkled with black pebbles around

*mini library next to the cafe so that the guests can take some books and read them while eating at the cafe
*a small museum about the volcanic peninsula and its history
*aromatic scent all around being blown by the pacific sea breeze. i'm thinking of rose petals with french vanilla

*yoga classes

At the spa, the principal ointment that the masseurs would be using is Elemi Oil, an oil extracted from pili nuts.

Here are some facts about Elemi Oil:

*Elemi oil may just be the most prized ingredient in skin care products today. High-end brands of facial creams and moisturizers—Chanel, Marc Jacobs, YSL, Estee Lauder, etc.—now sneak in this wonder oil which is touted to lift and plump up sagging skin.

*This amazing oil from the Philippines has actually been used since ancient times—in Egyptian embalming practices, in aromatherapy (it's a close relative of frankincense and myrrh) and in the treatment of a variety of skin infections.

*Elemi oil is extracted by steam distillation from the gum which oozes out of the bark of the Canarium Luzonicum tree, a tropical tree which is native to the Philippines. Known locally in the Philippines as Pili, this tree exudes an oleoresin gum which has been traditionally used for aromatherapy and as kindling material to fire up local wood stoves. In 2011, a representative of Chanel contacted the provincial agriculturist of Sorsogon, Philippines, to order up to 10 metric tons of the oil per month. Is this not an indication that elemi oil holds mysterious secrets to beautiful skin?

For a century now, France has been importing cheap elemi oil from the Philippines and has profited much by developing a wide array of products from it. Healing ointments, skin care products, food flavorings, fragrances, adhesives, lacquers and varnishes are just some of the many products which the French have made out of elemi oil.

General Health Benefits
?? Antiseptic. Elemi oil shows antiseptic activities against bacteria, viruses and fungi. This may well be the reason for its being used in the ancient Egyptian practice of embalming mummies.
?? Analgesic. The ability of elemi to relieve pain explains why it has long been used in folkloric medicine to treat sprains, aches and joint pains.
?? Expectorant. Elemi oil has a soothing citrusy fragrance which, when inhaled, relieves sinus congestion and aids in expectoration of phlegm.
?? Stimulant. Elemi oil is said to stimulate the activities of many organs in the body. The regenerative, excretory and hormonal sytems of the body are sped up, thus making the body better able to eliminate wastes and toxins.
?? Anti-inflammatory. Elemi oil exhibits anti-inflammatory properties which explain why it has been used to manage arthritis and joint pains.

A cousin of frankincense, the pili tree also belongs to the Burseraceae family of oleoresin-producing trees.

Manila elemi is the trade name for the soft, fragrant exudates obtained from the trunk of the Canarium tree species which includes pili. It is mainly used by the fragrance industry after distillation of its essential oils, the Philippine Council for Agriculture Forestry and Natural Resources Research and Development says.

TRIVIA: Albay, the province where this resort will be located came from the word "baybay," which means "sand." The province is abundant in volcanic sands found on both its east and west coasts (it is bounded by the Pacific Ocean on its east and Burias Pass on its west). Volcanic Sands are also found on streams leading all the way to the peak of Mayon Volcano.

Albay is 45 minutes by plane from Manila. It is located near the southeasternmost tip of Luzon Island, in the peninsula of Bicolandia, a volcanic peninsula that stretches from north to south where at least 3 volcanoes lie.

nope never. maybe i should check it out.

but as a taurus white sand feels like powder and the waters are clear.

You should. I am not sure if black sands are the same everywhere but the sands in our province are probably blacker because they are volcanic.

White sands may be powdery but they are dull and kind of hot. Black sands have therapeutic effect and are surprisingly cooler.

It is volcanic.

I have been to both types of sands. Sorsogon has lots of white sand beaches. Been to Palawan too. White looks good in person and in picture but black is more therapeutic and feels better when you walk on it. Dude, the pacific sea breeze in the area is also amazing! The volcano is a charmer too.

The resort's going to be therapeutic, aromatic and spiritual. Elemi means keeper of the spirit. The theme of the resort is spiritual. There is a buddhist temple and a catholic poea in the middle of the rock garden. A french style cafe with a mini-library inside the resort. A spa overlooking the seashore. Who needs white? White is dull. Black is exotic.

It's black because its crushed basalt/volcanic rock.

I've visited black sand beaches in Hawaii. It feels like normal sand.

Black is cooler than white for some reason. White sands can be extremely hot.

I think because its rock and not shells it heats up at a slower pace.

YES. Black sands when they are embraced by the ocean can have amazing feels on your feet. Especially those black sands lying next to a nearby stream. There are lots of streams in the area. Very cool and refreshing. This is what you call tropical and volcanic.

My idea of this resort is that I want it to be the next Bali or something. But not exactly. It is going to be a spiritual resort. Lots of incense and aromatic scents around...
