Send the inspectors back in! If not then I think they need to take him out he is a monster! He killed his own son-n-law.
The US Government is currently holding a conference into the phenomenon of anti-americanism ie. 'why the rest of the world hates us and what can we do about it'
It's only americans who believe the propaganda about living in the greatest country in the world - most other nations are sick of the US promoting their selfish interests under the guise of a 'for the good of mankind' methodology.
Do you really blame Saddam for trying to protect his own interests against the arrogant bloody-mindedness of a 'pre-emptive strike' mentality!?

Once again Cortica you are out to lunch! If he(dictator extrodinare) has nothing to hide and cares about what happens to his people, which he doesn't because he kills them himself, than let the UN inspectors in! That is called compromise. He has shown his true colors in the past, so wake up and smell the coffee. Some people forget very fast! History, learn from it! Sounds like you are the only person spouting propganda. The only countries that hate us are the ones that also take our support. Maybe you should go live in Afganistan and see what it would be like to be a woman LOL! (pre US invasion)! This is a great nation. If it wasn't for this country could you imagine what would have happened to Europe during WW2? Saddam is nothing more than another Hitler. There are evil people who need to be whacked, and he is one of them!
By the way Cortica, how old are you?
He's a powerful man with a bad track record. If he has nothing to hide then why does he not grant unvetted access to the UN and their inspectors.
While I don't like war it has made the world what it is today and will continue to shape history in the future. I don't think war is the answer this time round though...
What I think is that America need to recognise they are part of the world and they need to start showing the rest of the world that they care...because they do.
The USA lived in their own little bubble...a self sufficiant world unto themselves due to their size and might untill Osama and this mob popped that bubble nearly a year ago today. That false sense of security that came with that bubble was squashed like a bug and the first and most natural reaction to a situation like that is anger and revenge. Bush did nothing but waste millions in bombing Afganistan because that's all he did apart from enrage those cultures involved even more makeing them even keener to die for their cause. Bush caught and changed nothing in Afganistan so now he has turned his interests to Sadam...
When will he learn that that is the exact reason these countries hate him and his nation...when will he learn that he needs to change himself...—
Globalistaion is the way forward now in my opinion...

smell the self-righteousness burning in the air.
corporate america is equally as evil, the sad thing is, it manages to convince people (usually other americans) that it has a mandate from god to impose it's cultural imperialism, anglo-christian ideology and autocratic hegemony on whoever has something it wants.
colin powell was shouted down at joburg yesterday, bush is having trouble getting any allies to support his strike on iraq - even israel, little america in the me wont commit until it's gone to the un, you're too greedy to agree to kyoto, dream of free trade and then subsidise your farmers - sorry what's ww2 got to do with current foreign policy?
you have no national healthcare system, unsubstantial welfare system, an education system the favours the rich and excludes the poor, a privatised penal system and the largest per capita incarceration rate, you're the murder capital of the world, the largest producer of greenhouse gasses - i really could go on forever, but can you see how some people might find it difficult to perceive america as a fabulous and benevolent nation?
oh...and the thing that really pisses me off...there's no such thing as american english...it's called slang

sorry durrie, was replying to 64, not you - your reply was very eloquent.
cortica,
we were talking about bombing iraq, and that has alot to do with the past. hitler and huessin are twin sons of the devil himself! now you change the subject and start talking about money and pollution and all these other political issues. you are confusing and jumping all of the place. this country does more to help any other country in need, including britian. why is it you refuse to look at the good things we do and dwell only on the things that need changing. we don't live in a perfect world and we never will. humans will struggle with all of these same issues we always have and each one of us will do the best we can. we have a country that elects a new commander in cheif every few years if you don't like him, elect another and on down the line! we have a good as it can be democracy. how many other countries do this. africa? we are talking about the most corrupt country there is. it has nothing to do with christianty either. we are over there feeding them by the millions while their own goverment wipes them out. durrie you need to find another blame game and stop using the same one. and we did get something done in afganistan! women can work again they have been given back personal freedoms that the taliban took away and we are not know focusing on iraq because we have been focused on them for more than a decade long before we bombed afganistan. remember why we went there in the first place?

the united nations was behind every decisions made to go over to afganistan. we did not act alone! we has the world community right behind us. yes, we did all the grunt work and took on the task mostly ourselves, as we always have before, but don't look down your nose at this country only. we had all the world leaders behind the decision including the arab nations! people love to hate this country for the same reason people hate the most popular girl in school.
the reason 9/11 happened is because we are an open society. anyone and everyone is free to come here and live provided you play nicely! we are the melting pot of the world. there is such diversity, unlike say saudi arabia, that people have no problem fitting in here. we were taken off guard, because we trust people. they knew this and took advantage to kill 3,000 innocent men and women! cowards they are and they are evil! you want to feel sorry for them? i hope to hell they do hate us because the feelings are mutual!
and one more thing; yes we have a large prison pop. in other countries if you get caught stealing becuase you are hungry, you will have your hand amuptated in public! we do need alot of reform in our justice system for sure, but we are far from barbarric!(sp?)
got to go cu later, i hope!!!
got to go cu later, i hope!!!
while i agree womans lib was the only noble thing to come out of the war in afganistan i think that was by the by. bush was on a mission to find bin laden...nothing els and did he find him...—...no...and if he did would it have stoped terrorism...i certainly don't think so, if anything it would have enraged the extreamist even more and the terror would as it still is be an issue. nothing was done in afganistan other than to highten the the poor distribution of wealth the world has and that wealth will cure all problems.
i think what cortica is trying to say and i stand by him/her is that bush is a bit of a hypocrit in many ways. he decieds that hussain and bin laden need wiping out but doesn't see the importance of protecting his own (and the rest of the world) by signing kyoto as well as protecting his own...and only his own commercial welth by choosing to subsidise his farmers etc. what's the point of poisoning a world even one free of terror...—
the reason 9/11 happened was because the west stand on their soap box and profess to be the leaders of all while blindly believing they are and forgetting and looking down on the little people. it's time the world show eachother that we are all one of a kind and that we are willing to listen and share amongst each other...
you are right in that you have a democracy and it works fairly well and if i were american i would definatley be re-electing my leader next time round.
bush has done nothing but fight with other nations from day one in his somewhat contravercial election. first it was china then the world with kyoto and then bin laden which was the only somewhat justified fight. he got nowhere there and now in my opinion it's his daddy having another go at sadam again because desert storm was about as successfull as the war on terror.
while it's the main reason sadam has so much money to waste on nuclear warheads i wonder if bush and his daddy would show so much interest in the gulf if it were no for their wealth in oil...—
look don't get me wrong...i agree this man is doing the work of the devil but war is just what he wants...bush is playing right into his hands and i fear we just might see exactly what hussain has in the way of nuclear power if it comes down to war...only one thing bother me...
do you honestly think it is america that he will fire them upon...— with all that ocean inbetween you and him i very much doubt it.

i have a feeling this is going to be a useless discussion.
i was making a point about how the arrogance of american foreign policy leads to reactions - eg. september 11 - it would be nice to pigeon hole anyone who expresses dissent into the category of evil.
the american led sanctions against iraq have killed more civilians than 9/11. i'm not saying i support any kind of terrorism - i'm just saying it's not as simple as you think (or are told by your government). there are reasons why these things happen and it really is naive to belive that america is a blameless shining beacon of divinity.
the things you spoke about 205 really are just ignorant platitudes. what do mean by africa? do you mean south africa? or the problems in zimbabwe? or were you just using the term africa because you couldn't think of any specific examples and you decided to generalise about an entire continent?
i'm going to go away now because in a moment i'm going to get really angry and feel the need to punch something. your lack of objectivity in addressing the issue is incredibly frustrating. i suggest you educate yourself a little on current affairs that don't spill from an american media source because at the moment you're sounding really fanatical - ie. no substantial arguement - just lots of yelling and idiot comments (are you george bush 205!?)

lol - sorry durrie - replying to 205 again
cortica,
yes, yes, yes!!! i have heard all of these same arguments night after night for a year now. i would put the blame where it belongs. if heussin did what he was suppose to do, there would be no sanctions, understand? he won't do what he agreed to when he surrendered and now he will have to find out again the hard way. he doesn't care about his own people. yes, i do use the media as one source for news. where do you get yours, lol from the al-jeerez? you sound like a terrorist!
your going to hit something? why? because i don't agree with you.
you don't have to live in this country, take off! you can live anywhere you want to.
i like to see you find a better one anywhere in the world. go ahead lets argue about this if you'd like.

and btw cortica, i owe you quite a few idiot comments! you have been using them towards me for a long time now. you still have a few more coming before i am finished purging all my anger i have for you!
durrie,
let's include your country in all this mess. mr. blair is bush's best ally, so why are you here to bash us? worry about what is going on in your own back yard! after all if you want to really go back in time, it has been your country that has screwed things up from the beginning. they have been in every country around the world imposing their will. look at what a mess they caused in the middle east, and the arab nations and africa and india and pakistan and also tried it with the us. learn something about history before you come on here and try and bash this country.
you want to know how big hearted america is, a couple of months ago there was an abandoned ship at sea with one survivor left alive, and it was a dog! our coast guard spend 3 weeks and nearly 1/4 million dollars to rescue that one little dog. two weeks ago, i couldn't watch it but i was told about it, iraq was gasing dogs to death because they wanted to see how well chemical poisioning would work on humans. that is just one story but there are plenty more!!! i hate when people try put this big hearted and generous nation down. yeah, we have our faults like every other, but we are the most compassionate country on the face of the earth and you won't find a better one! so stick it!

well. you uncompassionate son of a b****. i sincerely hope you never lose a family member in a terrorist attack. we will see who you blame then. how do you know people on these boards, americans or otherwise, did not lose loved ones in the september 11th murders? how do you know? you should be ashamed of your heartless comments.
for all others who wildly and thoughlessly criticize my country, you are jealous. it is as simple as that. we are the best country in the world, and you couldn't pay me enough money to convince me otherwise. we have our problems, but i'd take the problems we have any day over those in other countries. *uck with america, and we will *uck you up. in the words of a good friend of mine. i love my country even though i didn't vote for bush. i may not like the man, but no other country in the world bands together to defeat an enemy like america does. politics aside, you don't mess with us. everyone wishes they could have the government we have.
and those are the facts.

on september 11th, of this year, if i am still doing this, i intend to post a very personal e-mail from a friend who was in the twin towers and made it out alive. it took him from 9:45 that morning till 11:30 that night just to make it home safely and then sit down and right what he saw and what he went through. this will be my way to remember and pay respects on that one day that i will never, ever forget and don't want to and so should no other american. please, don't forget!!! almost 3,000 innocent people lost their lives that day and did nothing wrong but show up for work! i hope it shocks you!!! i still feel anger; i still hate those cowardly bastards!!!
i posted a piece on the new york times message board that same week it happened and i will share that with you too!

ok ladies and gents, let me make my stand on this from a former us marine......
the united states is free because of people like me, and those serving in today's military. life in the military is not easy, it is work, and you have to be willing to die to protect the freedoms of the people who have no integrity towards the united states. don't b**** about things that have happened to the united states if you are not willing to go lay your life on the line to protect it.
i am so sick and tired of people who wine about what happend on september 11. but let me tell you this....we responded and we responded in the correct manner. anyone who thinks otherwise is ignorant in the ways of the world. yes i am sorry that this tragic event happened. yes we will recover, recovery takes time and effort.
as for iraq, when the united states has proof of their involvement in 9/11 then we will respond.
life has changed for the people of the united states, adapt to it, over come it, and move one with your life, let the souls who died on that day rest in peace.

marinesag,
although i am confused by your statement "i am so sick and tired of people whining about what happened on sept 11th" (which posters are you addressing with that comment?), you have my utmost respect and gratitude for serving in the armed forces. anyone willing to lay down their life to protect the people of this nation, is a true hero, so many thanks to you (and all the others) who serve.
i agree with susan that we should never, ever forget. that is like saying "forget about the holocaust" or some other world-changing act of evil.

not whining just not forgeting so quickly!
not whining just not forgeting so quickly!
...and i think it is ok to talk about this until we are over it!
please, don't make people hold in their feelings by refering to them as whiners! it takes time to get over something so devestating and everyone has their own way of trying to heal!
as much as i respect you and i thank you for protecting us here in the country marinesag, i think we should all be allowed to take what ever time is necessary to heal. the only way to do that is to express your feelings and talk about it. so, if anyone is in pain feel free to get it out!

yeah, and something else...it amazes me how uncompassionate people become when it threatens their precious ideology (speaking about durrie and cortica and those who think like them). some self-proclaimed nonconformists and fringe thinkers are so quick to argue about politics and money and s*** that just doesn't have any weight in this discussion at this point, that they lose their humanity. it makes me sick. and if anyone on the street dared to verbally display such heartlessness (nevermind thoughtlessness) to me or anyone else who lost someone in the mass murders, it would take the jaws of life to pry me off of them. so even though i am not in the military, i certainly would risk my life for the united states. i have a great many family members who did and do serve in the military, and i completely understand the work and dedication it requires.
and as far as getting over it, that won't and shouldn't ever happen. we may "move on" in a sense, but where our newfound strength comes from is that knowing in the back of our minds that there are some wackos who seek to destroy us. to again quote a close friend of mine, "success is always seen as arrogance".

yeah, i notice their argument was always about money too! but, now i can understand their point of views too! i think that the average person including myself has a right to know what we are paying for! we are over taxed and we have aright to a say about it. i paid way too much income tax last year! i am not b****ing because i am thankful to be able to, but i just want to know how it is being spent, do you understand??
s.
phoenix, are you alright? you seem much more aggressive lately! i don't remember you like this before!lol i am not saying it is bad. not at all i think it is very good that you don't take any crap! lol just not use to seeing it from you!

lol, susan, yes i am just fine. this is just one particular topic that i am extremely passionate about, for both personal and humanitarian reasons. about the money thing, i completely get what you're saying about the taxes, but what i was referring to was how some people want to start talking about money and finances and drawing (albeit thin and baseless) correlations between "corporate america" and the sept. 11th murders.
(don't worry susan, i'm not normally aggressive; it's only on certain issues)

i don't even give it a thought! it means nothing to me! i am not so sure what you said but i trust you!lol!
i am not saying that people on the board are whining. i am simply saying that i am sick and tired of people who whine about the attentioned paid. i am sorry if i did not make the post clear, it was not meant that towards everyone. by all means share your thoughts, feelings, and stories.
i learned a lot in the corps, but i also caught hell from people about serving a country that worries about the world and not there own people. this country worries about the citizens who leave here, and they do that by providing protection for are way of life.
again i was not saying everyone is whining.....but those of you who are....well you know what my opinion was on that.

oops i think i hit a nerve here and that was never my intention...i speak my mind as you do yours, it's our right but what's with all the four lettered words that you are to ashamed to actually fully spell out...debate is healthy, it shows you care...
firstly 152.163 my counrty of birth is not anywhere in the united kingdom i was born and half raised in zimbabwe or rhodesia at the time. i then had to flee my country of birth with my imediate family from the terror of robert mugabe while some of my family stayed behind and have as of three weeks ago lost their farm, life and dream farmhouse they built with their own two hands. it was to the safety of south africa we fled where i lived most of my teenage and adult life apart from the past two years here in the uk due to my mother being british...so don't tell me about your 9/11...that was a self inflicted attack of terror caused by neglecting the attitude of the arab countries involved due to your blind belief that all is well in the world because america is running as it should...when will you learn that there is life beyound your east and west coastlines...—
you lot just don't get it...while patriotism is a noble thing the american public have been brainwashed by it due to a false sense of security you have which was created by your size and might...spoon fed to you from birth and a mentality that is now eventually back fireing...america - bigger better faster...well whoop dee f***en doo.
can't you see that that is the reason the rest of the world hate america right now, regardless of whether you or the rest of the world are right or wrong in their beliefs the fact is there is a problem...it's always...aah join us, fight with us, america standing alone and the rest just fill in around the edges...when will it be...aah there a problem should we be partners in sorting this out for the betterment of mankind not to add another badge of merit to america's mentality of always keeping score and having this innate need to be on top...on top of what...the hit list...—
look at the huge drive going on at the moment addressing a very real problem for your nation...anti-amercanism...a new catch frase that has the world of news in a flat spin except for the general amerian public. the world hate you and yes while it might be about jelousy amonst manny other things that doesn't make you right to carry on as you have done.
look i see your points and i have no doubt your counrty is a great one, it is i would love to visit it...but
you need to proove that now more than ever by showing you care for the world by joining forces as equals not as americans...

it won't change because we(the majority) like it this way, so don't waste your breath! people like me intend to keep things just the way they have been and will continue to be. we are the leader of the free world and there is a reason for that. you don't like...too bad!!!!don't live here!
that's just fine 205.188 but then expect more attacks and expect to live in your so called free country in constant fear for your freedom...does a majority make a wrong right...—
you still haven't listened to what i say...get off your high horse as an american...come back down to earth...join the rest of the world as people of the world...the wolrd is in threat of terror not just you...but because america has a pluck with the middle east all of a sudden we must all rush to help you on your "personal" conquests...———
all the things you speak of above stem from your outrage at the fact that terrorists had the "ordasity" in your minds to attact the general american public...well hello...that's what terrorism is for a start, but you want to protect the rights and lives of americans because you were attacked as americans it convieniently fits in that it is a concern of the rest of the world...and don't tell me i'm wrong in saying that...
205.188 you say above "it won't change because we like it that way"...
phoenix you say " f*** with america & we'll f*** you up".
for god's sake people...when will you realise this is a self inflicted fight you are fighting...i'm glad you think it's nice being on top...on top of the hit list that is.
your conciousness and view of life needs to change...least of all do you need to waste more millions of the tax payers money to fight another war and enrage the extreamists even more...
the omly way war would solve your problem is to entirely wipe out the arab countries and all their people who would fight against you because of their beliefs...now who's gonna be responsible for that one...how does that make you differant from hitler, mugabe and the likes of melosivich...—

one more thing 205.188 you ask me not to waste my breath in trying to change your view. untill now i thought hmmm...it's just their mentality which has been passed down from generation to generation and it will be hard to change but we have to try because it will benefit them and we have to try and make them see that....but now with comments like that....
my will to outline a problem in persuit of the truth has turend from an endevour to pity...
i pity mentality like that...it is so closed minded and self absorbed that it shows even less of a mentality towards humanity than terrorism does...i said it once and i'll say it again...
you are asking for everything you get and if you are not willing to change yourselves even after having lived in a 1st world country and seeing that there is actually something to protect and fight for then your 1st world is only one full of self richeous, closed minded people who have no desire for peace at all...just an innate yearning to belong to something that throws it weight around and calls itself great and the best as a result...
get rid of the blikers guys and you'll all of a sudden see that while running the race to be the fastest and best you are missing out on smelling the beutiful flowers that line the race track...

durrie, durrie, durrie...*cortica shakes her head*
it's futile, it really is. your arguement was very eloquent, however i can't see it being appreciated here.
i'm not even going to try anymore.
just one thing - phoenix - i don't understand your need to assert some kind of ownership on tradgedy - you have no idea about the personal effect of 9/11 on myself and just because i choose to look for explanations that aren't grounded in emotions, doesn't mean i have no humanity.
i used to live on greenwich (cnr rector) street two blocks from the wtc - i walked through it every day on my way to work - i learnt how to rollerblade in between the towers - i used to go down there around 11pm when there was no one else around and the security guards would mind my bag while i skated - we used to chat about possible terrorist attacks. i knew the firemen across the road. this was my neighbourhood that was destroyed - i'm not even going to speak about my friends because it's so disrespectful the way people stake their claim. these are the reasons why it's so important for me to look at the issues objectively.
it's futile phoenix - you're too ignorant to see anything at all - i find you indescribably offensive.

Phoneix,
You have the right to your opinion and to deal with your tragedies in your own way.
I hope that GOD will grant you peace with this and let it eventually become a topic that you can discuss with ease as well as compassion...
I know what it is like to have a topic in your life that hurts so bad to talk about that you tend to react in more personal ways than you normally would in day to day situations.
I hope you find peace.

Secondly Cortica - Leave Phoenix alone....If she offends you to damn bad....She has the right to be passionate about anything, and noone care if you once roller bladed around the TWIN TOWERS...so what don't say your compasionate about things and then try to dis on others that are more passionate about the topic than you are.

marinesag,
Thank you for backing me up. At least you can see where I'm coming from on this issue. Thanks for having my back! : )
I agree with you that if it weren't for American people of your caliber and integrity, a lot of countries INCLUDING the UK would be up a creek without a paddle. The ingratitude and shortsightedness of some people baffles and angers me. I too hope that all American people who were actually affected by these tragic and devastating events are able to some day find peace. To this day I am still shocked and hurt that it happened and bewildered by the "reasons" some people say it happened to us. I do believe there are some areas of life which are "in the gray", but I believe for the most part that soem things can and should only be seen as black and white. Evil v. Good, Right or Wrong, Positive or Negative, Reasonable or Unreasonable. There just isn't any excuse or justification or reason or right in attacking thousands of innocent people and using Religion as a reason. No God would condone what happened. No God would find reason in it. Though it might be some part of some bigger "plan", it should not (and I don't believe it ever will) be seen as anything necessary, or even inevitable. There is a toasty spot in hell for people who side with terrorists or their twisted agendas. They are the lowest of the low.

And another thing. OF COURSE America will protect its own. What else are we supposed to do? Nicely ask the terrorists and their supporters to meet us for sandwiches and soda pop to negotiate with them? They are not in their right minds. They are fanatical, crazy, eveil extremists who seek to bring down the Superpower. Their interests are not peace, or the betterment of mankind. So don't deify them or try to spin their agenda to make it justifiable. They would not hesitate to kill any American for any reason on the SPOT given the chance, before you can snap your fingers. We are supposed to "reason" with fanatics? What planet are you on?
And another thing, Americans are generous and concerned about smaller less powerful countries. We care about worldwide injustice. We give other countries huge amounts of money. Who's got our back, I ask you? I thought Britain was our friend and ally. I guess I was wrong about that. We did not declare war last September, war was declared on us. Was there really any doubt in the arab world that hijacking our planes and slamming them to the ground as well as into buildings full of unsuspecting law abiding citizens would have the effect it did? It's common sense. If we wanted to, we could destroy any country on the planet. If we were that self-consumed, evil and coldhearted, and that much of a bully. We are none of those.

I disagree phoenix. I believe the United States are bullies. I am not discrediting the good things they have done for their neighbours, and am not going to rubbish the american people, but I have no time for your government.
I won't get into the debate that everyone seems to be having about the twin towers, as it has nothing to do with the question asked. The only thing I would like to add here about that is that America and the American ppl don't have the monopoly on the pain caused by that tragedy. There were many other ppl besides Americans who perished, so your tunnel vision is not appreciated.
To answer the question posed. No. America should not bomb the crap out of Iraq. If anyone is going to do that, then it should be the United Nations that organise their security council to do so. Of course the Umited Nations troops are made up mostly of American forces, so Marine Saq, you would get your chance to 'kill some Iraqui's for mommy'. You would not miss out on any fun!
America at the moment is the most powerful nation on earth but that doesn't give them the right to control world issues. As much as I love the American continent and its ppl, I would not endorse a world where everyone should become 'American'. I think the American government should look in it's own backyard first before trying to fix the worlds problems. Any nation that does not place children as paramount has to come under question. Besides Somalia, they are the only country in the United Nations who refused to sign the covenant on the rights of the child. At least Iraq did that!
I'm happy that you are a proud and patriotic American Phoenix, but maybe you should get some facts straight before shooting off at the mouth and embarressing yourself.
Don't bother about the comeback "I'm not embarressed b/c blah blah blah" b/c it will only bring more attention to your ignorance.

I agree with you Lawgoddess that the United States has issues with looking in its own backyard. But I would like to give you a little insight on what the UN considers right and wrong in war:
I had many friends in Somalia that were killed because the UN would not let them return fire. So I have very little confidence in the capabilities of the UN Security Council.
Secondly, I think that you would find that more and more people from around the world have taking what happend to the World Trade Center, and sort of made it like it has hurt their country more than yours. I think Phoenix was well with in the right to feel the way she does about the incident. Yes it did affect a lot of countries, but it was on our soil that it happened.
and I dont have to worry anymore about going to war. I am not in the CORPS anymore.

Go ahead and point out which fact I got wrong Lawgoddess, I would be interested to hear them.
And I have as much right to shoot off my mouth as you do, so if you don't want others to shoot off at the mouth then practice what you preach.
And by the way, if you don't like the natural flow of this conversation, too bad. You came into this discussion rather late to be saying it's gotten off topic.
You don't have time for my government? Well, okay, but what does that have to do with anything...?
And about the putting of children first, I never once said America was perfect. Only a fool would say that. And if you're so big on staying on topic, why did you bring that issue up?
You have a right to your opinions as do I and everyone else. But your childish attacks against me do nothing to argue your points, and to call a person ignorant because they hold different values and priorities than you, just makes you look immature.

And also, I don't have tunnel vision. I know that it's not just Americans who feel the effects of sept 11th. I am fully aware of that and it's common knowledge. Show me where I said, or anybody said for that matter, that we "own" this tradgedy? That wasn't even implied. Quit assuming things, please. It just holds up the discussion when people have to go back and clarify their statements after being accused of saying or implying something they didn't.

Wow, what a mess. Ok everyone has an opinion.
I agree with Cortica, Durrie and Lawgoddess.
My message is simple.
Wake up america, dont believe your own publicity. As far as im concerned, you do nothing but help yourselves. You dont care about the 'little man' on the street. You call yourselves democratic yet all you do is bully other nations because they dont have the belief systems as you.
What gives one nation the right to tell another how to think?
As far as im concerned, bush is nothing but an evil git himself. He calls himself a 'Christina', well, if he read the bible he'd realise that Jesus led by example using compassion, forgiveness and harmlessness. As far as im concerned bush is as bad as those he condemns.
When will america ever wake up?
In response to the original question, no, i dont think america should bomb iraq. America have plenty of nuclear arms and iraq have a right to protect themselves.
Cortica, you sound well educated and like you know what you are talking about. Have you studied politics and law?
Lets practice compassion. Two wrongs dont make a right. Just because someone hits you doesnt mean you have to hit them back.
Why are america even bothering to hold a conference on the issue of why the rest of the world hates them? Its not like they will listen.

What i meant to say is i dont know why america are holding a conference on their relations with the rest of the world. There seems no point, they dont listen anyway.
first off durrie, cortica and libragirl... you points have been taken and are clearly seen that you have such anemosity for this country.
you say that, we have to wake up out of our own crap and see that we americans should realize that we are not the only ones in this world. i will quote libragirl "Wake up america, dont believe your own publicity. As far as im concerned, you do nothing but help yourselves. You dont care about the 'little man' on the street. guys, wake up. we are not on top right now if us the american people didn't have the passion for their motherland. maybe if you other countries would realize that some of you out there are trying to be like us because you know how succesful we are.
to simply tell us that we do not see around us is a helloin low blow to us. we have helped alot of countries around us. i would want to quote marinesag, but i think what he said is a good example...
i just think that america cannot babysit the whole world.. and for those who feel bad about it should also wake up and realize that this country is the best because of what we do.
you may see a different side from where you guys are coming from, but guys do not tell us that we have tunnel vision.
Ps. Lay the hello off my buddy phoenix. she could say whatever the hello she wants just like what durrie and cortica blabbed about their opinions. so back the hello up.
