on september 11th, of this year, if i am still doing this, i intend to post a very personal e-mail from a friend who was in the twin towers and made it out alive. it took him from 9:45 that morning till 11:30 that night just to make it home safely and then sit down and right what he saw and what he went through. this will be my way to remember and pay respects on that one day that i will never, ever forget and don't want to and so should no other american. please, don't forget!!! almost 3,000 innocent people lost their lives that day and did nothing wrong but show up for work! i hope it shocks you!!! i still feel anger; i still hate those cowardly bastards!!!

the united states is free because of people like me, and those serving in today's military. life in the military is not easy, it is work, and you have to be willing to die to protect the freedoms of the people who have no integrity towards the united states. don't b**** about things that have happened to the united states if you are not willing to go lay your life on the line to protect it.

i am so sick and tired of people who wine about what happend on september 11. but let me tell you this....we responded and we responded in the correct manner. anyone who thinks otherwise is ignorant in the ways of the world. yes i am sorry that this tragic event happened. yes we will recover, recovery takes time and effort.

as for iraq, when the united states has proof of their involvement in 9/11 then we will respond.

yeah, and something else...it amazes me how uncompassionate people become when it threatens their precious ideology (speaking about durrie and cortica and those who think like them). some self-proclaimed nonconformists and fringe thinkers are so quick to argue about politics and money and s*** that just doesn't have any weight in this discussion at this point, that they lose their humanity. it makes me sick. and if anyone on the street dared to verbally display such heartlessness (nevermind thoughtlessness) to me or anyone else who lost someone in the mass murders, it would take the jaws of life to pry me off of them. so even though i am not in the military, i certainly would risk my life for the united states. i have a great many family members who did and do serve in the military, and i completely understand the work and dedication it requires.

i used to live on greenwich (cnr rector) street two blocks from the wtc - i walked through it every day on my way to work - i learnt how to rollerblade in between the towers - i used to go down there around 11pm when there was no one else around and the security guards would mind my bag while i skated - we used to chat about possible terrorist attacks. i knew the firemen across the road. this was my neighbourhood that was destroyed - i'm not even going to speak about my friends because it's so disrespectful the way people stake their claim. these are the reasons why it's so important for me to look at the issues objectively.

I agree with you that if it weren't for American people of your caliber and integrity, a lot of countries INCLUDING the UK would be up a creek without a paddle. The ingratitude and shortsightedness of some people baffles and angers me. I too hope that all American people who were actually affected by these tragic and devastating events are able to some day find peace. To this day I am still shocked and hurt that it happened and bewildered by the "reasons" some people say it happened to us. I do believe there are some areas of life which are "in the gray", but I believe for the most part that soem things can and should only be seen as black and white. Evil v. Good, Right or Wrong, Positive or Negative, Reasonable or Unreasonable. There just isn't any excuse or justification or reason or right in attacking thousands of innocent people and using Religion as a reason. No God would condone what happened. No God would find reason in it. Though it might be some part of some bigger "plan", it should not (and I don't believe it ever will) be seen as anything necessary, or even inevitable. There is a toasty spot in hell for people who side with terrorists or their twisted agendas. They are the lowest of the low.

I won't get into the debate that everyone seems to be having about the twin towers, as it has nothing to do with the question asked. The only thing I would like to add here about that is that America and the American ppl don't have the monopoly on the pain caused by that tragedy. There were many other ppl besides Americans who perished, so your tunnel vision is not appreciated.

To answer the question posed. No. America should not bomb the crap out of Iraq. If anyone is going to do that, then it should be the United Nations that organise their security council to do so. Of course the Umited Nations troops are made up mostly of American forces, so Marine Saq, you would get your chance to 'kill some Iraqui's for mommy'. You would not miss out on any fun!

America at the moment is the most powerful nation on earth but that doesn't give them the right to control world issues. As much as I love the American continent and its ppl, I would not endorse a world where everyone should become 'American'. I think the American government should look in it's own backyard first before trying to fix the worlds problems. Any nation that does not place children as paramount has to come under question. Besides Somalia, they are the only country in the United Nations who refused to sign the covenant on the rights of the child. At least Iraq did that!

I agree with you Lawgoddess that the United States has issues with looking in its own backyard. But I would like to give you a little insight on what the UN considers right and wrong in war:

I had many friends in Somalia that were killed because the UN would not let them return fire. So I have very little confidence in the capabilities of the UN Security Council.

Secondly, I think that you would find that more and more people from around the world have taking what happend to the World Trade Center, and sort of made it like it has hurt their country more than yours. I think Phoenix was well with in the right to feel the way she does about the incident. Yes it did affect a lot of countries, but it was on our soil that it happened.

And also, I don't have tunnel vision. I know that it's not just Americans who feel the effects of sept 11th. I am fully aware of that and it's common knowledge. Show me where I said, or anybody said for that matter, that we "own" this tradgedy? That wasn't even implied. Quit assuming things, please. It just holds up the discussion when people have to go back and clarify their statements after being accused of saying or implying something they didn't.
