The best person to ask for this question would be MarineSag......he knows all about computers ! 🙂
GOOD LUCK.
Dont USE FRONTPAGE is te first peae of advice I can give you.
The second thing that I would suggest is to go to Barnes and Nobles and purchase a book on HTML programing.
The best software for it is NOTEPAD it is free and on your computer. Use the book and then you can learn to write the code.
The more advanced you become in learning to write HTML in notepad then the easier it will become to using the programs that make sites for you.
Good luck in your adventures, and if you need support just let me know.
i must step in here and agree with MarineSag; DONT USE FRONTPAGE.
buy a book or take a class, and just start doing something. find a site you like, view source, and play around with that.
i learned HTML by using notepad, but now i use homesite to do coding in.
Wow you guys are all awesome!!!
Thank you so much! Marinesag thanks for the support : ) So just out of curiosity, why not Front Page?
So nice of you to respond : )
(I'm writing everything you said down like the anal retentive freak I am) lol
For two very simplistic reasons:
MOST ISP dont like FRONTPAGE - to many hackable vuneralbitlities
BECAUSE IT IS the worst we building program in the world, a simple 3k text website comes out as about 50 to 100k because of all the extensions and everything else.
Thanks for agreeing with me DXPNET.

oooh, hackers!!! bad, bad bad...
Thanks again for the advice, at this point I'm just collecting all the info I have before I start putting mad effort into building the site.
Thanks guys and thanks for the good luck wishes scorpio woman!
Get Dreamweaver 🙂
and a book on HTML, then a book on ASP.
Oh and photoshop comes in handy 🙂
along with Jasc Paint Shop Pro and Ulead products..
all in all, stay away from MS Frontpage 🙂 heh
We support Frontpage, but it is not installed by default - you must request it.

Hey thank you! Yes, I've heard good things about Dreamweaver...will be mentioning all of these suggestions to my business partner as she has taken over web building responsibilities (thank God). lol. : )
WELL FIRST OF ALL! If you're going to start your own website you need an ftp to organize all your files(this is where notepad comes in) and all that hoopla. You can dl it anywhere, I use WS_Ftp Pro 8.
You need find a host or buy a domain.
(But since you're fairly new to the html world you can just use geocities for starters and then gradually move on from there. But warning, I HATE geocities, angelfire, tripod, cjb.net, ETC.)
And photoshop is mighty handy for layout designing 🙂 You can also download brushes to accentuate your layout. If you have any questions on anything ask ME..
Well not anything, hee 😉
Thanks Luz!
That whole wanting to start a business thing was pretty fleeting though, and my interest in it waned a couple years ago. However, if the urge hits again at any time in the future, I will know who to talk to! 🙂
I just wanted to write something because the last time anyone posted here was a year ago today....

Anyone have any advice on what program or whatever to use for a beginner who knows next to nothing about this stuff as far as building a webpage (i.e., the easier and the cheaper, the better)?
Any opinions on Microsoft FrontPage as a biz site?
Any and all opinions welcome : )
