Thank you Sweet-P and everybody that gave advice. . . Although I have to admitt that My insomnia has been much worse that it is right now. I actually started this post with my boyfriend in mind. He just doesn't get enough sleep. It affects his short term memory as well. He'll go to sleep at four thirty in the morning, get up at seven, do something, go back to sleep for a little while, and will completely forget he ever got up for the hours inbetween. I was staying with him one night but I had to be into the city early, so he got up early to drive me, and later he admitts that he never remembers dropping me off at that train station. He sleep walks, or it's basically sleepwalking, he just doesn't remember later he ever got up.

eep.

I've gone through sleeping stages just like your boyfriend. It's kind of disturbing, looking back. For me it was extreme anxiety. Depression can mess up my sleeping abilities as well. I found that if I physically exhausted myself during the day in whatever way I could (insane amounts of housework, excercise etc) that would help. At least that would make me physically tired. From that point a person almost has to meditate to block out all the things swimming through their head. It sometimes helps to think "everything will be better and I will feel better tomorrow if I sleep now".

Eating meat/poultry is supposed to help a bit. There's some sort of chemical or hormone in it that acts as a sleep aid. Also, and the idea of this makes me ill so I've never tried it, warm dairy products, even ice cream are supposed to help. Again with the chemical thing.

Those are the natural remedies. I sometimes just take Excedrin PM to go to sleep (and it really works, but you must immediately lie down and try to relax after you take it, otherwise it won't work...if you're super anxious or not tired at all, it has little effect). Don't take it longer than three nights in a row, because it does cause horrible liver damage with long term use.

Yes, it's very weird. I do remember when you first came on the boards Sweet-P, I remember you were going through a very hard time. I understood/understand that. I think going to the gym again is going to be one of my saviors for the next few weeks here. It just tends to make you feel better, all around. I thought peppermint was an appetite suppressing stimulant, btw - that's very interesting that it helped you sleep. I should pick up some of that.

I understand you, Sweet-P. I too find myself being deeply touched by seemingly little things like that. 🙂 I totally get that. It doesn't sound sad at all.

I know...cold weather...I'm like, "dammit, cold ass car, little workout clothes that do NOT keep me warm...brr chilly cookiemonster whine moan" lol. It really is hard to find the motivation. And the TIME! Because I work in retail and I'm on a schedule that changes week-by-week, so I never know what days I have off and when, and by then, I'm so tired from working I'm like..."day off...yay! Do nothing day". But if I have a partner I'm much more likely to go and do it anyway. My mom and I used to go all the time...but she's in retail too, and so it's equally hard to match up the days and go together. All the friends I know are big time anti-athletic, so they'd probably grumble if I asked them. 😛 I'll figure somethin' out.

lol - enjoy yourself (and take a jacket with you) 😛

Yes, for a while my mom, aunt and I were all going together, which was fun, but it's funny how people have different workout style s. I like to be near the person I came with, and I'm not sure why. I don't like doing it alone. I'm not really chatty though, I pretty much get right down to business. My aunt would talk and talk and talk, which was a bit distracting, altough she's funny so that someone made up for it. My mom likes to do things in the exact opposite way that I do, for example: she wants to do mostly weightlifting, whereas I much, much much prefer cardio. I don't like weightlifting really. Cardio I like because I notice fast results with it. I wish I had a treadmill in my house; I'd be on that thing all the time. 😛
