Here's your answer, OP.
Funny how when I Googled this drug, it fell into "recreational drug" category. Thailand made it illegal due to the side effects that send people to the ER. It's had a longer history there and they don't even fuck with it.
Yet this silly petition is shuffling it under "OHNOES, IT HELPS PEOPLE COME OFF OF OTHER DRUGS!"
Sorry dude, I call bullshit. If even NA is reporting it as a "negative" drug, you shouldn't be whining about the DEA banning this substance that can harm people if used in excess.
You want to finger point, blame the idiots who abuse these drugs to the point of self harm.
COMPETITION.
Might put the Methadone clinic out of business.

If someone wants to abuse a substance to the point of self-harm, then that's their own problem.
It's practically considered a rite of passage for college students in the US to drink to the point of needing to get their stomachs pumped, yet alcohol remains legal (for those 21 or older).
Hell, people remain free to gorge out on fast food despite the negative health consequences.
So why is the government so selective in its "concern" over substances that can be harmful (if abused)?
Kratom is similar to alcohol and fast food - if you use it in moderation, you're unlikely to end up in the ER.

NA is anonymous.
You probably mean Narcanon which is
backed by the Scientology cult.

Kratom is an herb that has shown to be extremely helpful for those overcoming opiate addictions (by making withdrawals much more bearable so that people can finally free themselves from the opiate addiction).
But now the DEA wants to ban this medicinal herb and render it a Schedule I drug, making it a felony to possess.
Hasn't the war on drugs failed enough?
