The year/day you were born

I had this for a speech topic once, and I really liked it.

Pick one event from the year or day (if you wish) you were born, ie: a hit song, a war, a natural disaster, etc.
Relate it back to your personality somehow.

When I did my speech I picked the #1 song on the Billboard charts in December 1987, was George Michael's "Faith."

Faith = my motto. "Have faith. Faith in yourself, faith in mankind, faith in God." 🙂

Plusss the lyrics are so fitting to my personality.

On Nov 25,1981, a group of mercenaries led by Mike Hoare take over Mahe airport in the Seychelles in a coup attempt. Most of the mercenaries escape by a commandeered Air India passenger jet; 6 are later arrested.

i occasionally enjoy a coup ever once and awhile. i do have the ability to infiltrate any group and overthrow its generals. i then leave the group unscathed.

the Bush twins were also born on the same day as me and my twin sister. they were born in the morning and my and my twin were born at night.

How do you think I'd have done in that speech class?

You can't imagine what these people came up with. Straight bullshitters.
There was a Scorp in there (I knew all their signs after this speech - everyone said their birthday) and for his informative speech, he did hallucinogens and I swear he ate some mushrooms before the speech. My dude was on another planet. Instead of informing about them, he was more like promoting them. He was all, "they're awesome, try them."
For his visual aid he pulled up one of those youtube videos that reinacts visually what a trip is like.

He had a Koolaid stain on his shirt a shit. Hahaha WOW *shakes head*

I had to just put my head down to keep from lauging

I don't remember all the details of the speech (and it's been years so my arguments will be weak) but a few points were

1. Destruction of Public Property - Say there's a hostage situation at a museum. How does your hero get in and save people? Superman would have to crash though the roof shoot laser beams eyes through the door. There's no telling how much priceless artifacts he would destroy. Dracula could turn to vapor and go under the doors or change to a bat and come in a window.

2. Repeat Offenders - Superman is the victim of a flawed legal system. How many times has he arrested Lex Luthor? We dealing in a different reality where there are flying men, vampires, rich evil super geniuses... the rules of the game have to change. Dracula is focused on results. How many people that cross paths with Dracula are out doing their own thing again a few days later?

The clincher...

3. Origin - Dracula was originally a nobleman who was off fighting wars to defend his homeland. When he returned from battle against the Romans he found his beloved had been tricked into believing he was dead and had taken her own life. Dracula was consumed with grief and when the priests told him that her soul would be lost because she killed herself he cursed god and in a fit of rage drank her blood. God cursed him and he became a vampire. What's the first story of Superman? His planet is attacked and destroyed and he ran away. He is the last of his kind behind in the moment of their greatest need, he ran away.

The speech also had a powerpoint presentation and of course I chose the most one sided pictures I could find. I had shots of Superman standing in piles of rubble and Dracula looking as sweet and innocent as a vampire can...

It was a hilarious speech.
