V Day

Yep, almost that time again. They were talking about it on the radio this morning, about how Iran banned the holiday because its too westernized. I'm pretty much a valentine's day grinch, pretty sure I've NEVER had a good valentines day, and I've had a few bad ones (my dad was murdered on the 13th, my ex threatened to kill me on the 13th, etc)

But this year, being as Iran banned it, I'm tempted to make it a big deal. Just to spite 'em. Too bad I'm single.

Excuse me but what the hell is all about Vday..??

Means the authority gives you a chance to love or declare love to someone —a day in a whole year—?_?? Something you —can't do?? the rest of 364 days..??

How stupid you can get..??

Since when loving someone or showing affections got its own —DAY??..?? Freaking religious people..!

Sky, my condolences to you. My dad passed on the 13th as well...

But I do love Valentine's Day. There's a day to honor so many things, what's wrong with honoring love? It doesn't have to be a sweetheart, it just represents celebrating your love of whatever. Buy yourself a valentine....

I thought all holidays in the U.S. were pretty much about excessive indulgence in some form or another. Shit... We celebrate cinco de mayo for crissakes!

Any excuse to party, man 😉

Yep, I'm pretty sure PP will buy himself a dozen roses and a big thing of chocolates. "Buy yourself dinner, take yourself out, then come home and take advantage of yourself".

I pretty much agree with Qbone, its a commercial holiday... but OTOH, Iran banned it, and anything Iran bans I support.

Since I'm single again this year,I'll just do what I do every year.eat chocolate and fondle myself.

I'm going to cut out 100 red construction paper hearts, write "I LOVE YOU" on them, and put a 3 inch nail through the middle of them all. Then I'm going to scatter them across the highway. Then people will get flat tires and be all pissed off on the side of the road. they'll change the tire and see a red heart that says I love you and they'll know I think they're special...

On second thought, I'll do this...

Anyone else besides PP happy about V-day and got a Valentine? This along with sweetest day is one of my favorite holidays.

I'm sure I'll get what I got last year. I like Bella's idea. Perhaps I'll light a candle and leave a single stemmed red rose on my pillow. 😛
Other than that..daughters 20th before, my mothers birthday a few days after, I'm pretty sure it's a lock I'll be baking.

i'm excited about vday this year because mine & my bf's anniversary is the day after. so we're doing an all-in-one celebration 😛

those who have been impacted by "western culture" enough to want to celebrate valentine's day will celebrate whether they can buy chocolates & flowers or not.
simply taking a moment to look into your partner's eyes and squeeze their hand can be a celebration of valentine's day.

so this ban is silly.

I could care less what iran chooses to celebrate or not. Same goes to every other country along with my fellow americans.
