Just making and curating art for a refugee children's foundation.
I got into it because of a close friend.

I used to volunteer at an elderly rehabilitation center and helped with activities and taking them out for strolls on the facility. I spent about 20-25 hours a week there for several months
Bingo was a headache. Idk how many times I had to repeat the numbers I pulled
There was also this awesome elder Japanese man, I forgot his name, but he told me his WW2 stories

Teaching gentle hatha/yin fusion yoga to parents and employees in a hospital and lively Disney themed to kids at my spiritual center during the services.
I like guiding people through 1 hour of self care through breath and movement.

I’ve volunteered more than I’ve had jobs:
-Dementia society of ottawa
-Did research volunteer at centre of addiction and mental health while at u of t.
-Did some events with the 519 in Toronto.
-Pride toronto week a few years.
-Naragebup environmental centre for marine rehab.
-Kings park botanic gardens.
-Native arc wildlife animal rehab
-I was a helper for a lady pensioner that couldn’t leave her house. Went once a week to help her cook, walk her dog, clean
-whenever I go to Bali, me and my friend help at BARC dog refuge
-woman’s refuge through my government job, once a month.
Today, I just do woman’s refuge once a month.
I’m on wait list for dog walker at the dog refuge, no kill shelter. takes forever cuz I can only do Saturday mornings.

2 years after leaving school aged 16, gardening, laying flag stone, building fences and barking, all for the elderly.
Was part of a project management team.

Do you take part in any voluntary work at the moment?
I don't but have considered it.click to expand

No, my stance on this has always been that they should turn those into real jobs and pay people will money instead of "social recognition".

The guy who i listened to yesterday with a history of mental health issues does life coaching, talks at events etc and some of those he does voluntarily.
There was an opening for people to go to Africa and help people over there, i instantly signed up.
I love foreign lands and travel of which i have not done in years.
Sadly the age only went up to 25 and i was 27.. i never even got a reply.
It's not often things come up but if i ever get the chance...click to expand

....yes in an ideal world, but there is something kind about helping less fortunate people without looking for anything in return...
Except it isn't true. Most people who do that kind of stuff brag the shit out of it.
In the end it's christian parasitism all over again for most cases.click to expand

It's worth researching, there's most likely loads of volunteering opportunities out there...
