What I got from it was own how you feel. Don't try to dress it up and pretend as if its anything other than what it is. I don't think he saying to literally tell your kid you hate it. I think he was trying to point out that at times you may have those thoughts or feelings but thats okay because we aren't saints.

When I was talking to my therapist about my issues with ignoring my emotions he said to treat emotions like feedback. It’s another piece of the puzzle and something happened that caused a reaction so I need take both my thoughts and emotions as information and figure out what specifically caused the reaction.

Then once I see patterns it’s something I need to address.

that's pretty interesting and does it help?

He literally said it would be better for the mother to say it than to think it and not say it.

ok, I must have misheard... Well I agree it's a good starting base but yeah, not good to traumatize your child

I think that's a good rule of thumb. You also have to remember that if you have been traumatized, your emotions will not always be straight-forward or directly connected to the event that triggers them.

yeah it is important to analyze I do that alot. But Im just as confused when I try to find the source. Thats why I like to separate from my emotions sometimes.
