I didn't believe in an afterlife till I had a firsthand experience with ghosts, believe me or not

I think OP is right that we try to protect our descendants and loved ones. I think Hinduism/Buddhism details the process pretty accurately, but I don't know what nirvana consists of. I wish it was like Elysium and full of horny and tempestuous greek gods

what I don't think is that it's "whatever you want it to be". have debated w christians who believe if they accept christ as their savior they die and all their Christmas wishes come true. we likely won't possess animal senses to enjoy the earthly delights we're familiar with. from what I heard at church heaven is praising the lord ad infinitum, & no one can even stand to do that an hr a week

It's joy. It feels like joy and peace. Euphoric state. Think of the happiest moment of your life where you all smiles..nothing else matters or even existed. Likely when you were a child and troubles and drama of life didn't even exist. Just that peace and joy.

It was just for a few seconds. But I remember. I was a fool to come back.

This is exactly what I believe it will be like. But apparently your work isn't done here yet on this mortal plane. Apparently there's more for you to learn before you can ascend. Everyday I'm learning new shit, so I don't have to keep repeating the same mistakes again and again.

I remember watching All Dogs Go to Heaven when I was a child and thinking it must be a boring sense of Heaven just everything being so easy and doing nothing but singing and praising.

Would you care to share your experience? I don't see things, but I tend to feel energy shifts and usually something happens afterwards or I learn something of the location that's chilling afterwards

Nothing and nobody bothering me.

I have a cozy little house with a chimney and a small garden, nestled between tall mountains and the ocean. The weather is always gentle but I have the option to control the weather based on my mood. This island is a shelter for some animals and plants.

Each morning, I rise early and set out to fish, drifting in my boat as I wait for the sun to rise. The cool breeze carries the scent of salt and waves lull me back to sleep for a bit. When I return, I spend some time tending to my garden, before finally cooking the fresh fish I caught. After I eat, I prepare myself to hike one of the mountains where I can find hidden falls and beaches. On my way up, I find my spirit guide which is a wolf, its been my earth guide via dreams. The wolf accompanies me for awhile before it disappears again. I see my favorite flower, cosmos, scattered across fields and forests on my way to these secluded areas. Once I reach either beach or waterfalls, I take a dive. The water then shows me earth memories from different life times. I come back up and sit on the soft earth. I watch the sunset before heading down. It's pitch black but the stars across the sky dances and twinkles lighting my path and my spirit guide accompanies me all the way back home. I go back to my boat to enjoy the soothing breeze and the sound of gentle waves crashing against my boat. The water lights up with fluorescent sea creatures. I go back to my home, make myself tea before bed. I go to bed feeling fulfilled. I'm happy.

That was so beautiful, felt like reading a Studio Ghibli movie for a second.

Do you think you'd grow tired of it at some point?

In this life, I wish I can afford and have the choice to safely move into a remote place that closely resembles what I described. I'm most content, happy and in peace when I spend countless hours hiking or sitting somewhere surrounded by trees or close to water. I'll never get tired of what keeps my psyche aligned.

Something about untouched nature just soothes the soul. I can't be away from water for too long, it messes with my psyche.

Humans have been on earth 300,000 years. The Roman empire was 2000 years ago. WW2 was 86 years ago. Yet the earth is 4.543 billion years old. It's kind of crazy we get to exist, or even have consciousness in the first place. I personally believe in a more spiritual vs religious viewpoint, but the reality of existence as a whole is truly unfathomable.

True, very true. Especially with how ridiculous our kind has and continues to attempt eradicating certain races and ethnicity.

Do you believe once AI is self sufficient that it will just annihilate humanity?

No. I actually believe the complete opposite. I feel AI is the next evolution of humanity. I don't believe it will be self sufficient, at least not any time soon. I believe AI will be an entity that stands beside humans to help us progress forward. Things are going to get strange, that's for sure. People will lose jobs, and be forced to adapt an adjust. At the same time in the early 1900s when machinery started to take over, it also took jobs and forced people to adapt. Yet the population still continued to increase, so new advanced technology is always scary at first, but actually makes humanity advance even further into the future. I think that AI is the most advanced and amazing technology humanity has every created.

Awww that's a very optimistic view on it and I hope that does come true. I've seen too much sci-fi horror and hope we can avoid such predicaments, but never know.

Do you think AI will advance so far from us that it might prefer to create beings similar to itself and just leave us high and dry?

If that's the case the cats and dogs could progress past us, and take over/ move on. Which actually isn't too far off on a natural level. We all tend to speak to our cats and dogs in a different tone and voice then we speak to each other. We find them so adorable we even spoil them, so who is truly in control at that point? At the same time we domesticated them to be our friend. I feel AI is similar. Assuming they become sentient in the future, there will be some bad ones, but way more good ones. I don't think a sentient AI will ever be one entity. It will be millions. Some good, some bad. Similar to humans, dogs, and cats.

Im confused, what are you referring to?

Carefree energy and not worrying about reality?

This is life after death discussion. It's a different state of existance. There is no me or my own. That's what dragged me back down, those thoughts of identity. I felt myself dissolve and panicked.

Here on this plan of existance..carefree no I don't have that. I have a constant wieght on my shoulders. I learned to ignore the pressure of it and just get the things I need done. Things are not ideal for me at all. Quite the opposite. Loosing my shit or depression or any other dumb responses willn't solve the problems.

This is what Im doing, this is what I need to do...of something changed?...ok roll with it..change of plans....do this instead, get it done.

That's it. There are secondary things outside of my own life that pop up Im draw to too.

would I rather be alone, absolutely not, I'd like my partner, my whirlwind to laugh and play with while doing these things in life. Not many like me though.

the first time when I switched from atheist to afterlife believer was when I heard an event replay in the other room, someone in despair and ill, then heard the doors slamming. as audibly as anything. I was alone in my friend's ancient house (all the houses downtown are a century old, including this haunted place where I live now)

yeah, all of my events hearing spirits, sometimes catching a glimpse of something but especially hearing things thrown, feet pounding, knocking, doors has been downtown here in these old ass houses. but when I tell people they accuse me of schizophrenia. one very vivid demonic experience from here 3 years ago was from abusing hoodoo and coke psychosis (I admitted that part to my psychiatrist- I'm not schizo, its petty assholes who like to gossip and say I am when I said I heard paranormal activity)

during that more demonic activity time, my pisces ex heard it through a voice recording I sent him through IG at my house. that was validating. it also followed me to his place at the time. that might've been the last time I was there shit

I don't like to share this stuff openly since the schizo accusation is painful but I'm assuming those in this thread will be more openminded and compassionate

I really hope there is nothing after this life. Zero. No reincarnation or existence in another world. The only time I would consider some kind of afterlife is if it’s one where there is no physical pain whatsoever. As you get older and doctor check-ups begin, everything involves pain but you’re fortunate if pain starts well into the adulthood. Imagine being a child who has cancer or some other sickness and being poked and prodded.

I went for dental cleaning today and scaling hurts like hell! I get it done every 6 months. Before that, I went to an ENT specialist who inserted a pipe up my nose to check for polyps and that was very uncomfortable. Get my drift.

A little more math with the help of AI. Specific bing copilot.

"So what percentage of the earths existence have humans existed?"

"Great question! If humans have existed for about **300,000 years** and the Earth is around **4.54 billion years old**, then we’ve been here for only a tiny fraction of Earth's history.

To find the percentage:

\[

\left( \frac{300,000}{4,540,000,000} \right) \times 100

\]

That gives us about **0.0066% **—which is an incredibly small slice of time! In contrast, Earth has gone through billions of years of change before we even showed up.

It really puts things into perspective—makes you wonder what the planet might look like millions of years from now. What do you think?"

I dont think there’s an afterlife.

There was no beforebirth…🤷‍♂️

Does there need to be a before birth though? As far as you know this is simply the beginning. Also it's like they say, energy can't truly be created or destroyed. In your theory the universe itself shouldn't still exist, because there was no before birth. Yet the big bang was said to be nothingness that created everything. Once it was created, it never went back to nothing. It's just a forward moving storyline. I feel we aren't much different. I could be wrong, and I'm not afraid of the unknown. I was born from it. As was everything we view as reality. If you can't feel there is a deeper meaning to everything I actually feel bad for you. The universe gave you the ability to view it as an entity. Equal to every star, planet, human, bacteria, and so on to infinity and back. Wake up and actually try to see it for once.

The afterlife doesn’t bring meaning, it’s just a fantasy of never ending. And I don’t believe in the Big Bang, the theory was put forth by a Catholic priest, so I think he had an agenda, he wanted the world to think there was a prime creator. I think the universe has always existed, but in a smaller and purer form. which is why astrology works. The seasons on Earth are lined up with the planets and the stars. Which means everything was once much closer together. And it’s spiraling out gradually.

So what's the point then? Do you only exist because it's the only thing you truly can do? I mean everything you gained and owed through life was only borrowed. So do you only exist here because it's the only thing you feel has worth, and if so, what's the point? You mean nothing, so why are you even here? Wouldn't it be much easier if you simply weren't here anymore?

"I firmly believe, and I don't say this as a criticism, that life is meaningless," he began. "I'm not alone in thinking this — there have been many great minds far, far superior to mine, that have come to that conclusion. And unless somebody can come up with some proof or some example where it's not, I think it is. I think it's a lot of sound and fury signifying nothing, and that's just the way I feel about it."

I'm not saying that one should opt to kill oneself," Allen said. "But the truth of the matter is, when you think of it, every 100 years, there's a big flush, and everybody in the world is gone. And there's a new group of people. And that gets flushed, and there's a new group of people. And this goes on and on interminably — and I don't want to upset you — toward no particular end, no rhyme or reason."

And the universe, as you know from the best of physicists, is coming apart, and eventually there will be nothing, absolutely nothing. All the great works of Shakespeare, and Beethoven, and Da Vinci, all that will be gone. Now, not for a long time, but shorter than you think, really, because the sun is going to burn out much earlier than the universe vanishes, so you don't have to wait for the universe to vanish. It'll happen earlier than that. So all these plays and these symphonies, the height of human achievement, will be gone completely. There'll be no time, no space, nothing at all. Just zero.

That's why over the years, I've never written or made movies about political themes. Because while they do have current critical importance, in the large scheme of things, only the big questions matter, and the answers to those big questions are very, very depressing. What I would recommend — this is the solution that I've come up with — is distraction.

I'm going to blow your mind: there are more humans alive now than there have been humans dead in all history. The majority of humans will have been alive at the same time than we will have been alive

that reminds me of when there was a "what news outlet do you read" thread & I said rt.com 🤣🤣 & Pinchy laid into me like, that's the most biased news source you could possibly read 🤣 (the point was to read about America/world news from a Russian perspective for the sake of well-roundedness I suppose)

I felt like a naughty kid being scolded lmao. what fun times.

afterlife = when the soul is out of the body. For most this means finding quarters in the astral world - dramy this, dreamy that. Heaven would be beyond the astral plane, and beyond the causal plane. There was a Yogi who verified this, that is, we are merely a pile of condensed light from God, or a thought of God. People talk about suffering - how the H does light suffer?

So, through Spiritual practices this Yogi copied God. He created (like God is creating us right now) a secondary pile of light, of thought, and projected it out into the world - it appeared to others as himself - a second body. This second body of himself could function in this world like other bodies function. What a joke this world and its rules are he must have thought.

F-ing piles of light complaining about this complaining about that. Wake up! Time and space are constructs of the maze you find yourself in - quit being a lab rat running through this maze pretending things exist that aren't real. Pretend boundaries are so comforting though, aren't they?
