This movie is one of the funniest black humour comedies I've seen in ages. Very funny on loads of levels. Brilliant. And I love the two lead actors Paul Giamatti and Thomas Haden Church.
Sideways
I loved nearly all of the responses Miles (Giamatti) would give to Jack who generally wouldn't pick up on their hilarious sarcastic intent. It's hard to sum up why exactly the movie was so good but I guess it was the way it countered Miles' despair at the way his life was going nowhere and all his emotional crises with the sheer childishness, and simplemindedness and comlete lack of scruples in which Jack saw and lived his life! And the contrast was portrayed really well and really comically without being over the top or dead pan or overly affected.
it was good, but i think overrated. it got to be a bit of a chore to watch by the end (for me anyway)... i watch a lot of arthouse and foreign films, so i don't think it was the non-hollywood-esque tone of the film, it just didn't strike me as that great a film
