70s Punk Rock

Who else enjoys listening to punk rock from the 70s?

My favorite band is The Slits. Does anyone else listen to them?

My favorite 70s punk band is X-ray Spex! Does anyone else enjoy listening to them?

I like mainly The Clash, The Ramones, some songs by The Buzzcocks, The Boomtown Rats, Generation X, Patti Smith.... As well as the early 80's bands like The Misfits, Black Flag, Circle Jecks, Dead Kennedys. So I do like a little bit of Punk music but I was always more of a Metalhead growing up.

I don't like punk except Ramones, they transcend music genres.

I remember the Slits and Xray Specs. My personal faves were the Pistols, 999, and the Buzzcocks

I got to see social D here in L.A. at the palladium a long time ago. It was pretty crazy considering how small that place is. I wouldn't consider them punk rock though.

I think my favorite song by them is "Reach For the Sky."

PURRF- Social D was punk when they first came out(early 80s). You're lucky to have seen them at the Palladium. I used to work there. Got to see X, MDC, Fear and the Ramones there. Remember Fenders in Long Beach? Small place. Saw a ton of shows there, the highlight being TSOL and the Red Hot Chili Peppers on the same bill.

YAMA- Velvet Underground was 60s alternative rock.

yeah, I liked them from prison bound and up. I was never too into hard core punk like some of my friends were. I guess I got to see them when they sounded more rockabilly ish. In 1996. I got the wind knocked out of me when they started playing lol Never been to fenders. Very cool that you worked at the palladium though. Talk about dream job.

Actually, the hardcore stuff began to turn me off as well. Too violent. I liked the 1977 Hollywood stuff like the Weirdos, Screamers, Dickies, Germs, Bags, X and Black Randy. All the bands sounded different, unlike the hardcore which started to sound pretty much the same after awhile.
