Looking for recommendations!

Looking to broaden my musical horizons as it were so wondered if peeps would be good enough to post their own recommendations?

I'm in the UK so I'm guessing there are quite a lot of "hidden gems" out there that I've neard heard so it would be great if others would share their own personal favourites of "classics" or just flat out awesome music that inspires them in one way or another.

I'm open to pretty much anything with the exception of rap, heavy metal, boybands, country and jazz. 😛
