"Radiooooo is a brand new site with a terrific little concept: Click on a year, in decade increments from 1900 to present day, and click on a country anywhere in the world, and the site serves you a popular song from that time and place. It started as an Indiegogo project nearly a year ago.

So if you click on 1920 and “United States”, you might get a 17-piece big band; if you click on “1960” and “Brazil” you might get bossa nova; if you click on “Now” and “Canada”, you might get Arcade Fire. Or Justin Bieber 😢.

It’s quick and incredibly easy way to experience music as both a global and a temporal phenomenon. I’m typing this up listening to some gorgeous Malian blues by the Touareg singer Abdallah Oumbadougou, an artist I would never have discovered otherwise.

This is a great project that is worth your time on this slow, sleepy Thursday afternoon. Give it a listen."

lol, as I suspected, it's a user curated shit.
It is actualy very difficult to know what song was popular in a given year, believe me, even for me an 80s scholar like me it is difficult, the few charts posted on-line give different results each, and then you have to wade through dozens of songs per year and there is no central repository.
It doesn't even take into account the different countries criteria.

User curated means that it will end up in a millenial meme bank.
For example only a millenial would think that rick astley's meme song was very popular. Most people who lived in the 80s barely remember it if at all.

All the more reason for you people who lived during the whole decade and know music from before...to submit songs. I have to check if there is a limit for submissions..it would make quite a cool radio for every decade in every countries if more people post.

Really don't think it's millenials who bother to put songs for the 80's...at all. Probably more stuck on deciding which song they remember from the 2000's

The rick astley retarded song was more brought up into focus by the media and the memes about it, which isn't a millenial creation.
