indeed it was the time when old rock stars would associate with these street kids to get a piece of their huge popularity, it was before rap got ejected of the white mainstream

Great pioneers there, NYC breakers, rock steady crew (see RSC video in third post of the thread) these guys invented literally most of the breakdances moves done to this day. Mr Wave at 1:30, great style.

Now a bit of history,how HIP HOP and the Zulu Nation got organized and what it stood for originally, and why it's so sad that nowadays people just associate "hip hop" with gangsta shit

First a shout out to the early "german industrial" synth bands that were samped to death by early hip hop artists and literally created most of the hip hop sound, mostly kraftwerk

and this song that for some reason was considered a flagship hip hop song, when it has nothing to do with it

And a few european songs that tried to ride the early hip hop uptown art-gallery vibe, far from the bronx

That change the beat was sampled so many times !
