I'm actually confused why anyone would say no..especially when faced with death and that being the only other option.
Most of us are attached to our cell phone anyway, mine could be built right into my hand.
Need glasses? Nope, not anymore. Hearing aids? Nope. Pacemaker? Nope -
Wheelchair? Nope.

See, I think we use technology and gadgets as much as we can to improve our daily life as it is.. It's not such a stretch to have it built right in and become permanent.
Run faster or just have wheels, see better, hear better..

To Piscesloves: I would become a cyborg if it was a life or death situation, but voluntarily no. I enjoy my humanity, I enjoy the fact that I can feel, taste, smell, and do other things. Being a cyborg would kill half of that. I rather be a human than a machine who can't feel.

Ok, with that exact definition- I guess, no, I wouldn't be a cyborg.

If I retain some of my humanity (emotion) would I no longer be classified a cyborg?
Just a thought. Part human/part robot- are there specific rules on which parts are what?

"All of the cyborgs in??Blade Runner,??Bubblegum Crisis, and??Ghost in the Shell seem to possibly have emotions. The heroine of Ghost in the Shell feels lonely sometimes. Cyborgs in??Bubblegum Crisis feel sadness and desperation as their comrades die in combat. Even the replicants in??Blade Runner seem to resemble trapped souls trying to escape."

I think there could be some debate to whether we are discussing cyborgs or androids, cuz I thought cyborgs still kept a lot of their human parts.. Or at least could.
I wanna stay me, essentially.. With sweet ass mechanical/computerized upgrades 🙂
I've gotten into this discussion with my family today.

You're absolutely right. Cyborg (Noun): A fictional or hypothetical person whose physical abilities become superhuman by mechanical elements built into the body.

That's what I stumbled into while reading the Yahoo comments to David Attenborough's claims that human stop evolving (stopped natural selection) once they are able to rear up to 99% of their babies: "If you have had a cataract op or a pacemaker fitted or a hair transplant or a boob job ..........or a location chip as some VIP's/military do , you are 1st generation cyborg" (Anonaty).

They definitely keep their emotions, if that was a concern for wannabes Pisces-Cyborgs!

This is not a very good question because all our technology already makes us cyborgs. You can mention smatrphones and internet, but any hint of technology is already part of being a cyborg, medical technology, prothesis, driving a car,etc...Even wearing glasses...
Life is actually a technological race and it starts in the DNA.

Anyway I would like to become the most technologically enhanced possible but still keep something, that gives me a biological identity and some biological flaws because accepting one's flaw is a souce of transcendance
Our current technology is far from being as sophisticated as nature's biological sophistication.
Our technology is based on order and doesn't offer the randomness and the variability that is created by gene variations, which can create weakness as well as new strength, and there is some sort of beauty in that chaos.

Also I would not want to become dependant of the technology and I'd like to keep as many options as possible, so the cyborgness would have to stop where it would start to become an evolutiionary dead-end.

Also: esthetical considerations matter.

All that being said, all enhancements that can bring me power with minimal sacrifices are wellcome.

You got a point there. Though I still feel a cyborg is a organism that has had cybernetics integrated into its body.
