It's amazing how just the mension of the word "race" can create such a sit in some people, yet this is suppose to be 2008. Both sides of the spectrum who still have trouble understanding really need to "A More Perfect Union".

It doesn't matter where you fall -- blue, red, yellow, white, black, if you are not closed-minded, then you should get something out of it.

The answer is clear for any thinking human being. Obama stayed with the church for 20 years and considered Rev. Wright as a friend and mentor. It's obvious he shares his views but he chooses to lie to get into office. He's a liar and a racist.

I know this is late but I really have to respond to this......

1. Who cares if the man goes to church at the United Methodist Muslim Episcopalian Scientology Hare Krishna Center for Sanctified Baptist Catholic Church.....gas is $ 4.00/gallon why are we focusing on how the man prays and where he chooses to get his message of inspiration....I am sure you have heard the saying don't shoot the messenger....

2. I have known Rev. Jeremiah Wright Jr. for years and he is NOT RACIST. Now I cannot defend his speech in NY by any means it was simply ridiculous and vindictive against Sen. Obama, IMO. However what I can defend is that the media and particularly the Clintons extracted 30 seconds from his sermons. The first sermon regarding America's Chickens was actually him quoting what someone else said......but that was deleted or not included. The second saying GD America was saying how every single minority/ethnic that has been discriminated against must feel. He included, Asian descent, Jewish descent, Korean descent, Hispanic descent, Arab descent, and lastly African American descent. But, what part do you think was included in the campaign commercials...you guessed it! Therefore I find it extremely reckless for those who have not bothered pre-ny press club, to take the time to listen to one of Rev. Wrights sermons whether it be at Trinity Baptist Church in Chicago, Hartford Memorial Baptist Church in Detroit during revival, Friendship West Baptist Church in Dallas, or the many other churches he visits.

3. The man is retired.......why is a moot issue being made ripe

4. He was Bill Clinton's confidant during the Monica Lewinski scandal. Surely President Clinton didn't simply open his phone book to spiritual leaders, write down 20 names, put them in a black hat, shake it up, and pick Rev. Wright's name out, did he? If he did then I think we need to turn the tables here!

5. Why is this issue deflecting from the more important issue of the eradication of the middle class, the thousands of jobs that are being eliminated, and the rising cost of necessities.

Dude if you were responding to me...What are you talking about—? Did you even read what I wrote—? And why this preoccupation with slavery? Are you hiding some in your basement— My posts didn't even mention slavery, confederacy, or anything else pre-civil war...this ain't a history thread. The point of my post is why is there a preoccupation with Senator Obama's race in this election with the country being in the state that it is—? well ....no drilling here wont solve everything but it will help until we can put an alternative in place, hopefully hydrogen eventually. id drive a more efficient car but i install flooring and ceramic tile which comes on pallets wieghing 1500 pounds or more at times so i have to have a heavy duty truck to do my job which only gets 12.5 miles to the gallon....trust me im feeling it big time. if i could just drive to work and not have to use it to haul stuff id get 4cyl toyota truck or something better.
