Oh gosh, even though I'm a big old cheapo myself, I think on the first date, it would be a turn off.

Don't get me wrong, once we are officially a couple, I'm ALL about saving money and I like to think of ways so we don't even have to spend very much when we go out.

But at first, when I barely know the person, for me anyway, it feels like starting on the wrong foot. It also makes me wonder about how many dates this person goes on that they have to use coupons to help them out.

I like what Libra suggested though where the guy gives it to the waiter on the way to the bathroom so the date doesn't know.

Agree, such a turnoff. I didn't suggest popcorn LOL, come to think of it he offered once the movie started but I really didn't want to bust his budget so I declined.

Personally never had this happen to me..
My thoughts are:

Men who use coupons are either financially responsible stewards of money or cheap stingy penny-pinchers. . I would never discount someone for using a coupon on a first date, but my personal preference is against it. But coupon is a coupon โ€” you can't extrapolate that one instance to make assumptions about a person??s whole financial outlook / money management skills (good or bad). I say it's best to wait until the dating relationship is a little further along before those 2 for 1s and buy one get one 50% start coming out ๐Ÿ™‚

Lol.

yeah, it's too weird. When you're married and settled down, that's when you start to do the penny-pinching. For people dating, that's so cheap. But look at us, we're judging. we can't help ourselves. *sigh*

Its tacky unless he brought it up b4 the date, like, ". Hey, got free movie tickets, wanna go with me?"...then I wouldnt mind so much.

Agree completely. But this would have to be AFTER we already went out once.

For a first date though, I'm leaning towards NO for that second date. First dates are for first impressions and my first impression would be that he's cheap and I can't stand cheap men.

This is hilarious! I wouldn't mind it for a first date. I'd probably just laugh about it. As long as it doesn't become a habit. If it happens more often than not then the guy is probably cheap as hell. And I don't get down with that.

Merc- Virgo
Venus- Libra
Mars- Cancer

To me, it's not about being cheap. To me, it says, "You're totally not worth spending even a normal amount on dinner for."

It's pretty insulting.

Using a coupon on a first date?!!! NO!! it would be the last date lol I'm all for using a coupon later on once you get to know someone but damn! At least try and make a good first impression! I once had a Capricorn man take me on a date and he told me flat out to order the side salad for my meal that added on an extra $ 2.95 to the meal instead of ordering his own salad, lol I was amazed at how cheap he was! I don't think I would have even noticed if he ordered a cheap appetizer or even a side of fries cause he wasn't that hungry but the fact that he told me his cheap ass plans was an immediate turn off! That was the last date we had.
