This is interesting because my parents were high on hugs and I love you. I was praised a lot for my accomplishments and I loved just being around mom and dad. Just hugging them or watching tv.

I only ever got gifts from them during bday and Christmas. I wasn't given toys for no reason but as positive reinforcement.

Interesting how they treated me reflects on my love language today.
Now that you mention it, I experienced a similar upbringing! haha

10 Acts of Service
10 Quality Time
5 Receiving Gifts
4 Physical Touch
1 Words of Affirmation

My upbringing lacked words and physical touch and gifts so I don't place much value on those yet I actually love getting little gifts for loved ones such as a partner or my little brother or friends, and I love getting a thoughtful present for my partner for his bday and Xmas. I think it shows I'm always thinking of them and that I care. Quality time is definitely high and I hate being interrupted, upbringing lacked quality time but parents used to do their best for me and my sister when growing up. I'd rather someone do something practical or useful for me than tell me something as actions speak louder than words for me.
