Call me anal, but uh my husband didn't start driving my car until his ass was 1. My husband AND 2. Fully insured on my car!
I've never understood the aspect of why people allow their regular boyfriends/girlfriend to drive their cars. And especially if they DON'T have a valid lisence or priveleges to drive their own damn car!
I'll never forget the time I heard a girl say, "Well I let my man drive my car b/c he's my man." My response? Um....the only person that oughta drive your car is 1. The MFs who can AND will pay for it persay they wreck it and/OR 2. The MFs who are insured on the car!
There are just some things I wouldn't risk even if I was in a relationship. I can love you & yet not allow you to drive my car at the same time! Sheeeeesh!
In some situations, what does LOVE gotta do with it?
I say this especially to the women who are in relationships with men who have no car themselves OR who can't take care of the car they've already got.
It's not that I won't let a man drive my car b/c I don't trust him, but moreso that I have to be smart about things. You've got alot to LOSE if your man gets caught driving your car that he's not insured on. And in that situation, love doesn't pay for the accident he "accidently" gets in, nor does love help you get your car back or keep you from paying court costs!
I let my ex drive my car once & after he wrecked it, I couldn't even be mad at him b/c that was all MY fault. Sure, none of us ever expect for or hope for another person to wreck our cars, get a speeding ticket or get caught driving in something they're not insured in, BUT the reality though is that these things DO happen. And most of the people driving your car are NOT in financial shape to buy you a new one OR pay the bill persay it gets wrecked!
Well when you said I wouldn't just let "any boyfriend" drive my car, it led me to believe that you'd base whether someone can drive your car on how deep you were into the relationship, meaning serious vs. non-serious.
I can understand to an extent why someone would allow their boyfriend of 5+ years to drive their car, but yet NOT allow their boyfriend of only 6 months to drive it.
But even still, when it comes to a person's car, how serious or not you are with someone should have nothing to do with it. There's no certain "look" that a responsible person will have. And hell, sometimes even the most responsible/careful drivers get screwed b/c of the other crazy drivers on the road. And in those cased, the cops don't care that the accident wasn't your man's fault. All they're gonna focus on is that HE was the 1 driving a car he was unisured on at the time of the accident.
It actually doesn't cost that much to add someone else to your car insurance. It costs alot more to fix a car or pay for a speeding ticket than it does to play it safe & add your man/girlfriend onto your car insurance!
Idk, when it comes to certain things, I'd rather play it safe! I can love you too death but yet still not let you drive my car! Same goes with my friends! I always say "HELL NO!" when any of my friends have ever asked to drive my car. 1 of my best friends was like, "Why not? I'm your best friend?" My response..."And your point is.......?" lol =P
I know what you mean. I don't like my SO's drive my car. I've only let one and that was because I didn't feel like driving and he proved he could handle driving. He lost that privledge tho the night that I heard he backed into another car with his friends. Thank goodness it wasn't mine
