There’s no accurate answer to your question i myself could stand not seing the one I care for up to a year or more. It all depends if the attraction is still there and why he/she became your ex.

Yes in my boyfriend's case & now we are back together. I did not contact at all for about 2 1/2 months, until he reached out to say he missed me.
So it worked? Did he break down and ask to be back together?

Well I'm not sure it's the same situation. He disappeared & refused to talk to me. That lasted a week & I didn't contact him again. Even when he started liking posts & making comments on my FB. 2 1/2 months later he sent me a message telling me he missed me. I did not message him or call him until he did that. About a week later we started talking again & met and worked everything out. He said that he tried really hard to not want me but it didn't work. He missed me soooo much. I told him I refused to reach out after how he acted, and he said that was smart. I guess it allowed us both the space to figure out we didn't want anyone else.

No. It turned out he was afraid I'd leave him after a short-term relationship and he wanted a long term one. I was planning on moving in a couple of years. It's just we both tried dating others in the separation & it just made us want each other. I'm not moving anymore...
