I always invent games to overcome "the moments of waiting".

so probably in a single cell I need to invent lots of them.

not sure if that'd be the final solution/release. just my first thought.
I honestly don't think many would be able to handle solitary for life.

For example, people who have to have a lot of so-called "friends" wouldn't last long. I think they would be the first to go cuckoo.
The hermits would be the last to go.
Hermits choose their way for different reasons, among other reasons, some do so for religious reasons, some, because they suffer
from Anthropophobia and are afraid of other people and some, who just don't like other people

I don't personally see anything wrong with being a hermit, but I think I'd like to be able to maintain access to society so as to exploit
what I would consider beneficial to me. ie typical supplies that I would deem necessary. I can be friendly and all, but I can also go for a long while
without communication. Usually because I am lost in my work which involves the attention of the mind, hands and eyes.
People who need others constantly, couldn't do what I do.

IF I were put in corporal solitary, I don't think I'd last long, myself.

There's also the hybrid version:

you have a good book and alone for a while. So basically the book is written by another person. That is I'm not 100% alone.

Another case is when we are alone but lots of things (scenery, smells, colors, shapes, music) remind us of the people we've shared time with.

Indeed thinking of our childhood and all that, can we ever be lonely?
