Scorpios are powerful figures, but their strengths can become totally self-destructive if they don't live a fulfilling life.

So he may very well be a 'true' Scorpio, but one that somehow got off on the wrong path. Scorpios are generally shy and reserved people, but when they do reach out, they often terrify others as much as they charm.

In a personal relationship sense, being a Scorpio man can be either the greatest blessing (because they are powerful and magnetic which attracts women), or the worst curse (because women are easily intimidated by a man that can see through them but the woman can't read him at all).

In my experience as a Libra male with VERY heavy Scorpion tendencies, if a Scorpio gets into a self-destructive cycle, it is very hard for the Scorpio to get out of it. Scorpios are very hard-headed and will persist with whatever they choose to do until the very end. If he has subconsciously decided to destroy himself, then it is likely that he is the only one that will be able to turn himself around.

I am a Scorpio female with hypomania, a genetic type of bi-polar depression that only began since my late 20's. No question it can affect anyone, no matter what sign. I find Scorpios to be in two groups anyway, although we have three signs. He may be the type who prefers to stay depressed because it excuses his behavior and keeps him from having to move forward. I don't know, but true depression is horrible and I cannot imagine going for 6 years without help. Is she sure she still wants him?
