Is this considered hot & cold? Is he playn me

We reconnected online 8 weeks ago. We were friends 20 yrs ago. Both of us are recently single. He quickly asked me to be his girlfriend. Within first week. Then he would say lovey things for 2-3 days then no contact for a few days. Then right back like he was never away.

He had a death in family. So he refused to see me. Only hot then cold text and calls.

Finally saw him 2 days in a row. Told me he loves me. Is in love. Wants me forever and that I'm stand out in a crowd and he would want to make me his wife.

Now he's back to being cold.

Is this normal? Am I being played?

Will this ever change to where he's around me more often and the cold stops? Does this mean he doesn't really want me like he says he does or am I being used or played. He told me he loves me really likes me. Then goes cold.

He just lost a family member. I wouldn't be taking any of what he says (in love, wanting forever and marriage) at face value rn. He is grieving and in need of comfort.

He was saying I love you prior to the death. And the forever as well. He needs comfort? How do I do that when we goes silent for a couple days here and there? Idk. Is that even normal? For him to say he wants to be with me then go silent and cold?

I don't want to hang on , beliving him if he's only playn me. I don't want to get hurt.

It could be normal, yes.

Some people aren't big on texting in general.

But when it comes to illness and death people have different reactions and he might not be in his right mind with all these love declarations and whatnot. I'd caution you to reserve your emotional investment and see if he's still singing the same tune in a few months from now.

^^^This is unusual, that it happened so quickly. What's the hurry? Can't clean, cook, and carry on his hobbies, needs wife replacement asap??

Taking a few days off from texting, on the other hand.... is something that everyone who's passed their teenage years should do....

Imo there is NOTHING normal about this. Love bombing...ghosting....moving fast (asks you to be his gf within the first week of reconnecting AFTER 20 years). Does any of this make sense to you? Apparently not hence "Is this normal?" Hell no. Run!
