Hi, I am a scorpee and I am afraid you are right. I don't mean to turn on my own kind, but I have met quite a variation of fellow scorpios out there. Some very honest, but many deceptive, witholding of information, and even an outright liar or two.
It is very dishonest to hold back information in some cases even though its not a direct lie. Another example of this dishonesty would be pretending to like someone while stabbing them in the back. Seen a few low level scorpions engage in this behavior.

The thing that gets me is the ulterior motives factor. I have a sag rising so I am pretty direct for a scorpio, though some of us are naturally quite direct. Anyways I have seen many a fellow scorp chockfull of ulterior motives. Hence you get into the dihonesty. If it helps these low level scorpions achieve their end, oh yes, they will be dishonest as easiely as breathing. Seen it too often to discount it. Have not seen the same brand of deceptiveness and dishonesty in repeated experiences with other signs.
It has to do with that hiding one's inner life thing that many scorpios get caught up in. A facade and masquerade instead of true, authentic interactions with people. Sometimes the scorpio being so sensitive has been really hurt and shattered somewhere down the line, but that doesn't really excuse emotional dihonesty in my book.
Lying or holding back or putting your own spin on the truth has to do with hiding how one is really feeling (duh scorpios are noted for that) Scorpions hate the light. Myself I try to fly like an Eagle, don't lump all of us in the same category. We are all in various stages of the sign: scorpion, eagle, dove, lizard/snake, phoenix.

That was very well-put, Scorpio with Sag rising! Fly like an eagle, huh? I like that. As a scorp, I find that it's pretty much a daily battle with me. My instincts are to be really self-critical, extremely secretive, and hot-tempered. However, I have a Libra rising, so I can also be very chatty and social and tactful--a quality that I find in very few fellow Scorpios. I feel that I am for the most part honest, especially when asked a direct question. However, I do withold a great deal--but nothing that I feel is hurting anyone by them not knowing. I only have one friend (and a boyfriend) that I tell a LOT to, because they are pretty much the only people I trust enough to do so. Do you think this is dishonest toward the others in my life, or just strategically guarded?

Also, can you elaborate on the different types of Scorpios? I'm very intrigued! = )
