I remember hurtful things ppl I care about have said and even though a long time has past and its still a moot point it still hurts me or I fear it happening again

I tend to remember many hurtful things that my boyfriend might say from time to time.. then analyze and later use it all against him. It's like I'm collecting negativity to destroy what we have for no good reason. Any others experience this torture?
