Text and misunderstanding

I personally try my best to be understood when communicating in text. But we all read differently as well as write differently. I'm not saying some are bad, but it can be difficult sometimes to undersand what mood people are in when writing. And when people think you might be angry through what you write and address this, I personally get a little upset... mostly for being misunderstood, but also because such accusations can change your mood instantly...

Smilies are cool but do they always ft the occasion.
Say you are truly upset with someone... would you use an angry or sad smily then? or wood that be too corny?

See that (!) is an interesting point. Meeting someone in person after knowing them online for a while. However, this was in a professional context as I understand the situation, so maybe tha affected his written communication?
I always think it's odd reading emails from friends, and observing how they are in text after you've already met them in person. Some people come come straight through as them selves and some seem more shy in text when it usually works the other way.

There are certain people I connect with online and some that displayes too thick a false identity to even have a serious conversation with. And then there is that someone special that just gets inside right away... It's all very confusing.. chemistry online can actually happen. It's not alwayes the physical appearance and touch and such that set things off. Sometimes just a single message that makes you realize something subconsciencly, and the few following messages to confirm it. Before you know it you have a deeper connection. It doesn't happen often, but it happens. And that's the person I want to meet ... in person. Not the one that pretends to be someone else to hide from his or her reality.

This is confusing to me .. are you saying this because you aren't understanding the other, or because they aren't understanding you?

If I interpret this .. it says to me, people might think you are angry by what you write because of them not being able to interpret your mood with texts .. so, this would suggest that it's the other persons mood that could be effected .. they might get the wrong impression.

Yet, it says that you are the one who gets upset .. your mood can be changed instantly.

So, who's not understanding .. them or you?

Hell, I'm not even understanding what is trying to be conveyed with a question about not properly understanding in text.

I agree with you, Scorpius .. in person, a person gives all kinds of mixed signals compared to in here ESPECIALLY with tone and facial expressions.

In here, it's much easier to decipher what a person is trying to express. Our egos dictate, most of the time .. and if the ego senses that someone has taken a tone, then the wall of communication goes up. This wall is less likely to occur because a person can't 'hear' with their ears .. and has no choice except to use thier own reasoning skills to understand, minus anything used by the other senses.
