Hey Cancerlady,

I'm going to take a stab at this one, I've been a girlfriend almost as long as I've been employed... lol.. I don't know that there's any 'right' way of being a girlfriend, cause lets face it, we're all individuals and will handle certain situations differently from one another. In my opinion though there are some very important componants to a relationship. 1) communication: my experience with men has been, don't assume they 'get it' or you'll be more upset with them in the long run. You have to explain where you're coming from if you have a problem, or question, or whatever. 2) Patience: there are some things that at guy will do that will make you grit your teeth so hard your head hurts. To fly off the handle at them will probably pose in-effective, so extend some patience in those situations and see number one.. lol.. 3) Understanding: now this one is a two way street. You should know how you are in a relationship before you're hard on others. Like if you're a typically dominant person, you should probably pair up with someone that's okay with that. Or if you want someone to put up a fight, or be the dominant, that's a good thing to know too before hand. Know what it is that you can deal with, and just can't get past. And from there, have a good time. 🙂 Relationships with the right people should make you feel like you're not the only one in this world, like there's someone out there that understands who you are through and through. Where you look at eachother, and know what the other one is thinking. Good luck, and definately have fun!!
