I ran into my physiotherapist at the pharmacy this morning and saw that he was visibly uncomfortable to buy his medication in my presence. He even gave me a piercing look and mumbled something to the effect “now I’m buying medication in my patient’s presence” and then proceeded to order “the same like the last time” obviously concealing the name of the medication. Why was he so secretive? Even if I heard the medication name, I do not work in the medicine field, so I’d most probably do not know what his medication’s for. If the roles were reversed I’d have no problem to buy medication in his presence. I jokingly said that if that was a problem, he might have let me cut in front of him and buy my stuff first.

The relationship is purely professional and although the conversations are flowing when I have physiotherapy, it is only friendly bunter. I found out by accident his star sign, when he asked me about my hobbies and I mentioned one of them being astrology and asked what his star sign was.

Go figure. To be honest I felt slightly offended of his reaction.

Lol! The gentleman is in his 60s, looks very neat and professional in his squeaky clean white lab coat. I wouldn't associate him with STDs. I think it is something relating to maintaining his image, but still do not understand his reaction, because we are all human and doctors also get sick sometimes.

He was probably just embarrassed.

Exactly as he said: he was buying meds in front of a patient and it obviously made him feel uncomfortable.

Maybe he is afraid it will change the way you see him?

Or maybe he didn't want to you know about that part of his private life because he likes to keep private and professional seperated.

I agree with this, thank you.

why is that something you would be bothered by ? offended ? his deal is his issue, and has nothing to do with you - if it was any other patient or someone he knows the scenario would be the same - his problem with the situation! You did the best you could to help him with his problem by offering to go first

Most men don't freak out over cholesterol medications. Men do get embarrassed about sexual related medications.

What’s your sign? Lol regarding discussion

Mine is Sun in Pisces, Asc in Cancer and Moon in Taurus.

The chit-chat with him is sometimes interesting because while we are discussing mundane topics he would all of sudden dive into some personal stuff (like how much he disclikes his MIL 🙂 and then suddenly go back to subjects llike the weather and fuel prices.

Lol! :-) Life is tough for men!

Interestingly, the pharmacicst is also a former patient, actually she recommended me this physiotherapist, because she went there for treatment after her surgery.

I'd be uncomfortable too. Medication is a private thing.

How would you feel buying medication in front of your boss for example?

Don't over think this. Nothing to do with you specifically, just the circumstances.

Unless it were a pregnancy test, I wouldn't mind buying meds in front of my boss. :-)

I agree with you, I'm overthinking. I just didn't like how he acted annoyed, while my only "fault" was to be at the pharmacie the same time like him. After all he might have waited for me to buy meds first.
