Ok so you have been for him for a year. If you are truly in love with him, you should definitely tell him you love him. He will either automatically say "I love you too" right back. If he doesn't he is not in love with you. If he changes the subject he is not in love with you. If you don't communicate with him though, he will think you are too afraid to show your feelings for him and that will upset him.
