Ever liked someone a lot, but couldn't be with them as much as you know they want to be with you, you cannot get with them? I like someone I met few years back, but we lost contact and then randomly he just came online on yahoo messenger, and I had not seen him online for such a long time until few weeks ago. Those feelings we had few years back all started to come back again...I like him so much cos he is my kinda guy in every way...only one problem...turns out his sister is an old school friend of mine and she won't be too happy because that is her younger brother and it's just something not so acceptable in my culture when the girl is older and also different religion to theirs. This year has been such a bad year for me 😢

😢 That bites. Friend aside I would take the attitude that it is my life, and his. To do with as chosen by both parties. Yes, we care about our friends, but they are not living our lives. And we've only got one go round this damned pebble. Grab that golden ring and clutch it tight. I am such a bleeding romantic and what not, but if I have someone right before me that can make me happy, I'm gunning for it. Right, wrong, indifferent, it doesn't matter.
The religion is the sticking point here. If you and your family are deeply steeped in your faith then usually that's an unspoken guide book which must be adhered too. *sigh* I wish I had the answer to that one for you. Could one embrace the other? Convert to Catholicism, Judaism, etc?

Sadly, what VB said. I don't poo poo anybody's religious beliefs, as I know that they are deeply rooted in family values, upbringing, history, etc, but with that being said, I'll just say I'm glad I don't have to worry about those things since I am no longer in the church. I was raised within a religious faith from birth thru 19 years old. I couldn't wait to get outta' that and just be "me." I am a spiritual person, so that is something completely different (to me) than being religious. Good luck girly 😢

I am not religious at all, I mean I believe there is something there but no particular religion. My family would not mind if I did pick a guy from another culture or religion etc as long as he doesn't try convert me to his religion, only thing is it's usually the guy's family that would not accept me as I am not the same religion etc. Sucks, for some odd reason I keep running into men who only listen to their family when it comes to marrying a girl.
Oh gosh sometimes I wonder are there any real men out there that can speak up for themselves when it comes to marriage. Ugh they need to grow a backbone, it's such a put off when a guy can't make his own decisions due to family.
