shampoo? =_=

why you have to give me that visual of rubbing a nutella like substance into your hair?

i thought asians needed a clarifying shampoo because the straightness makes it oily fast.
AndsyPOO! ♥

You mean you don't want some girl to rub nutella all over you?

I've never heard of clarifying shampoo or of how straight hair gets greasy faster. That's what I really want to know, tho... how to train my hair to not get greasy this fast.

Any success stories?

For a decade I have been using 'poo every single day.

I have long, fine hair. It gets disgustingly greasy after 24 hours. Doesn't help that I have pimple-prone skin, too. 😢

I've started skipping a day between washes, but my scalp hurts if I put my hair up in a ponytail too often/long.

Any solutions/tips?
Girlfriend, one word.....WEN! (look at my pic!). I have been using Wen for almost a year. I'm Hispanic, BTW. Also, go to the store and buy refined Coconut Oil. If your bedroom is the hottest part of the house (mine is since I live in a two story home) and I don't turn on the a/c 24/7 my coconut oil will liquefy. No worries. I now have it in my bathroom. Every day after you've washed your hair with Wen, dry off, and use some coconut oil to the tips of your hair all the way up to your scalp.

The coconut oil will strengthen your hair. I promise! 🤗 cyber hug!

PS: LOL, I also thought you were talking about doo doo 😄

Love,

Eva

PS #2 I also heard the coconut oil is GREAT for pimples. It will eliminate them! I don't have any BTW!

In the beginning, your scalp will need to re-adjust to the sudden change in rhythm.

The first few weeks or at worst months, you may be left with greasy hair after 24 hours.

The key is to use dry shampoo and the only one that have worked for me thus far whilst never irritating my scalp has been - Klorane Dry Shampoo with Oat Milk. It is specially made for sensitive scalp and as natural as dry shampoo could ever get. If you have trouble brushing it and do not like the slightly chalky or ashy look it may give you, they even have a coloured version which comes in blonde, red, and brunette. Fret not, the dry shampoo, even the coloured ones do not transfer at all unto your clothing or your pillow case.

In regards to second day hair, when you are still within the re-adjustment period, it would be best to keep it away from your face especially if you have pimple - prone skin. However, second day hair do not fair as well with slick back or blown out hair styles. It would be best to realise that your second day hair works best with a bit of volume and texture, which will come about naturally with the Dry Shampoo.

Perhaps try, setting it into waves or curls. You could even braid your hair through the night, then dry shampoo it in the morning to get those natural waves. Otherwise, braids could often be your best friend, be it dutch, fishtail, french braids etc.

Also, it would be advised to switch between elastics for your braids with barrettes, hair bands of various sorts, ponytail clip, claw clips (try different sizes, larger sizes for thick hair or casual french twist hair styles), and banana clips. These are very versatile accessories that will keep your hair in a healthier state, I could offer more hair style options for you if you know what accessories you already have or like best. Such accessories would cause far less damage to your hair, from what I remember you have long and thick hair.

As soon as you are home or whenever you could let your hair down, do so, replace it with a claw clip, tie it up with a ribbon or thin scarf, or even a cotton hair band. The weight of your ponytail, without rest will cause a lot of damage on the hair and place stress on your scalp thus the itching, discomfort or pain, at times even headaches.

Layna, if you have any other questions I would try my best to help you with them. 🙂

LOL

I'll eat it if it's there but I'm not gonna go looking for it. 😛

i've used it before to help remove product but it can be too drying. i think tea tree oil and deep cleansing shampoos are the same thing.

The best cleansing, clarifying and refreshing tea tree oil shampoo I have ever used was Giovanni Tea Tree Triple Threat Shampoo.

It is organic too and oh so affordable as well.

i don't think i need it. i just use an all hair types shampoo. what about a leave in conditioner? do you use that or nah?

I normally use hair masques in replacement of conditioners because conditioners only detangle the hair they do not offer much nutrition at all.

Before I blow dry or style my hair, I may use an Argan Oil with Brazilian Nut Karatin spray by Giovanni if I am merely looking for a quick polished blow dry and nothing complex. Otherwise, I use Argan Oil blended with Jojoba Oil on my hair if it is dry, if not, I use a leave in conditioner in place of a de-tangler. The one I am using now is by John Masters Organics, the Citrus Neroli Detangler, it also comes in the scent Rosemary Peppermint as well.

Do you use conditioners? If so, what type? If I remember correctly, you have thick hair?

Otherwise, I think you could benefit from a leave in conditioner but it really depends on the brand. Do not use one that is full of chemicals and other harsh ingredients because it will weight your hair down, creating grease and muck that would be hard to shampoo out in the long run.

With the humidity where you are, assuming you have not moved and assuming there is a lot of air conditioners being turned on. It could really dry out your hair and scalp, so a leave in conditioner could help lock in moisture, keeping your hair soft, healthy and shiny.

Henna must be used carefully though especially if you have already chemically dyed your hair.

Once you use coloured henna, you can not dye over it and you will have to wait for it to grow out before any chemical treatments could be done.

However, the results of henna are really incredible. The ones from Lush smell wonderful but almost everything by Lush smells divine. 🙂

What kind of shampoo are you using now?

I'm Asian, and my hair is the same way (long, fine, greasy). But I sweat a lot from working out, so shampooing on the daily is practically unavoidable, which is why I've resorted to mostly natural ingredients. This kind of goes without saying, but if you have oily hair, make sure you're only applying conditioner to the ends of your hair and avoiding the scalp area.

I've been using this Argan oil shampoo (oil combats oil), and it has really helped balance out the moisture in my hair. It's light and doesn't leave any buildup, despite being an oil-based product. And it's accessible & affordable to boot. You don't need a lot to work up a lather.

I'm really, really picky about my hair products, and I swear by this stuff.

I didn't read the entire thread so I don't know if anyone mentioned Chi.

I just spent over $ 20 on a bottle of keratin spray by Chi.

It's crap.

I splurged mostly because the static lately due to the weather change is driving me nuts.

I'm on day three of a flat iron and my hair is a disgusting mess.....when usually day three is when it looks fabulous.

and it made my face break out 😭

chi is crap.
Chi is overrated.

Except for their silk infusion complex, which I've been using for the past 10+ years. That thing is a godsend for dry ends. Smells like Curve cologne, though.
