I have booked a cruise to Cuba this summer and I was wondering if anyone has any suggestions as to what to do while I'm at port. We will be in port over night in Havana so I am able to do nightlife things along with day time things. I know I dont have to do the cruise excursions even tho they kind of make you think you do in order to get off the boat. I'm American so traveling to Cuba is a new experience for me, altho being Puerto Rican I'm not totally ignorant to Cuban culture since it is very similar and where I live has a heavy P.R./Cuban culture. I speak very minimal Spanish since I was raised American despite my father speaking it fluently, but again it's not completely foreign to me(better at reading it).

This will be my 4th Cruise I've been on so I'm very familiar with cruising. Mostly just looking for suggestions on Cuba.

We are also docking in Key West where I have been a bazillion times since my sister used to live there and all I'm planning on maybe doing is meeting up with my sisters ex husband for lunch(hes still father to my niece and nephew so we are on good terms). If hes not busy working. If not I'll probably just walk around the shops and do any internet surfing for the last time b4 we set sail again.

I am not traveling alone. So far it is my husband and I going and maybe my parents, a sister, and nieces and nephews but they haven't made a concrete booking. So between 2-10 people.

This is for my 40th Birthday so it will be a celebration and I would like to get as much as I can out of Cuba for the small amount of time I'm going to be there.

Oh and also my Cruise is from Sat -Thurs and we will be in Cuba on a Monday, if that helps. A friend of mine suggest a jazz club but she said it was closed on Mondays when she went.
