I think it's odd that this question is even being asked. ARen't we taught as very young children what "respect" means?
Respect your elders, teachers, property, others when it comes to manners ... I mean, the meaning of respect in my mind goes back to my earliest recollections.
So, why would someone ask what this means?
I should think it was a derogatory comment, for if it was indeed about respect, then a woman would comprehend that she is being respected by a man and wouldn't have to find reasons for him to say it.
It was said to my by my Virgo friend in the sense of "I respect the hell out of you, BUT..." (I don't feel "that way" about you). I think the exact quote was something like, "I really like you, and I respect you a lot, but I'm not in love with you." Which was not good news, at the time, since I was in love with him. But I have to hand it to him for always being honest.
Since then, I've come to believe that we actually feel the same way about each other, we just use different words for it. But in truth I'm not "in love" with him like I was once, either. Maybe that particular feeling was temporary.
Dys, it really depends on the context of the conversation.
From that one line, none of us can extrapolate whether it was full of sarcasm, if he was pouring his bleeding freaking heart to you, or if was being romantic and crap.
The joy is in the details 🙂 Continue.
