I am a House.
Foundation strong.
Made of stone
And hewn wood.
Exterior of brick and mortar.
To stand the test of time.
My walls are sound,
Ceilings high.
Color splashed hither and yon.
Warm, inviting.
Peaceful.
Glossy antiques,
Wingback chair, rug of Persia
Polished wood ready for a stroke.
Windows unfettered,
Wide open to allow in soft breezes.
Restful beds.
Wood floors gleaming mellowly in the sun.
Kitchen grand and fine.
Good smells emanating from within.
Bathtub full of deep water,
Begging for a long soak.
Candles, oils, book, glass of wine.
If you throw open the sashes you will see
That I have planted deep roots.
Wide to lush green fields,
Everything in bud and blossom.
The Return of life
From Earth,
Back to the entrance.
Hidden in ivy,
Surrounded by thorns.
But within this wall of Green,
Is a door of Red.
The Heart.
The Force,
Leading to the Hearth,
Where I peacefully watch.
Generations unfolding before my eyes.
I am a House,
Built to be the Anchor,
The firm Rock
On which Time unfurls.
