I do not envy God...
Watching his children squabble over words in old books
"A spirit am I," he says. "Trust in me...let me in."
Lovers against lovers in wars of words over trivial things. Mother against son.
Sister against brother.
Unseen slights rise serve as a cause to inflict pain. No peace. No joy. This slow grind of love's disappearance matriculates into God's breaking heart. Sight lost, those caught in the crossfire seek shelter...left wanting. Cold nights covered in a blanket of sadness singing songs of bliss lost. For selfishness and fear rule the day. Repeated questions of "why" permeate the inner depths of thought. Souls left seeking, but not finding.
My Lord, my only wish is to dry your tears. Mend your heart. For all you seek in the beautiful gift of me...of us. Life is the sacrifice. The giving up of our selfish selves in the daily service of giving. That we shall come together in love and truth to fulfill your covenant. For you are love.
But day after day we fail you. We fight the foolish battle of ego. We lay blame at the feet of others and look for vindication with our own hands. Hypocrisy knows no bounds. Enslaving souls to a morbid doom with words and deeds as sharp as the sword. We destroy lives with our actions until the stench of treachery reaches the gates of heaven. Your son's example drowned in a sea of hate. Battle hungry men and women seek glory fueled by fear and misgivings of "your will."
All the while you watch us die a slow spiritual death. You cannot move because we use the free will you gave us to choose the wrong path. We try to become you. The road to ruin paved with "good intentions." I do not envy you father. For you see us. Your children...disappoint you. I only want to make you proud. Do what I must do...to restore your faith in us.
