Tightly budded with promise.
Shyly resting on calyx and leaf.
Deeper color without,
Resting within, the softest shade.
Heartsong
Waiting to bloom.
Petal by petal unfurls,
Softly.
You must look carefully.
At times the bloom is full,
And you will miss,
This shy rose, unfurled.
To be open with unparalleled beauty,
Joyful and sweet face tipped up to the sun.
That soft, heavenly scent,
Filling the air with glorious perfume.
Ambrosia.
Nectar for bee and butterfly.
And if you see this Rose, what shall you do?
Will you admire from afar,
Draw close to inhale deeply of that
Sweet, sweet scent,
Only to continue on your path?
Or do you take, cutting to
Take it home to admire in secret.
Knowing it will die?
Dropping petal by petal,
Onto some forgotten stand.
Or would you carefully take a cutting,
And dip it gently into rooting compound,
Graft, heal the rift.
And plant it deep in Earth,
To burst forth in bloom
For all time.
