How the hell would they have access to time of birth info on people? unless they have their birth or death certificate. It's simply not possible to have most people's private info like that.

Ok, Virgo Sun is amongst the lowest as far as Sun sign goes if we were to trust the astro research tool, but I took a look at other placements and things change a little.
I found Virgo Mars in 94 charts (highest), while Pisces Mars was found in 54 charts (lowest). I also found Scorpio Jupiter in 94 charts (highest) while Taurus Jupiter was found in 53 charts (lowest). Same axis, different results again.
Besides Pisces Mars and Taurus Jupiter, Libra Venus (domicile) was found only in 50 charts.
And then Virgo Saturn was found in 109 charts and Leo Saturn (detriment) in 101 charts. For comparison's sake.. Libra Saturn (exalted) 62, Sagittarius Saturn 61, Capricorn (domicile) 63.
If we consider all placements Aries tops the list followed by Cancer, Virgo and Scorpio, while at the bottom you find Taurus, Gemini, Libra and Pisces. The relationship between Aries, Virgo and Scorpio can be explained if we look at it as a yod, with two of them sharing the same ruler (Mars) and Venus being debilitated in all these signs (Aries, Virgo and Scorpio). It happens the same with Pisces, Libra and Taurus, except Venus is exalted in Pisces and Mars isn't debilitated there as it happens with Libra and Taurus.
So Venus and Mars seems to be the key here. For further confirmation I searched aspects to Venus and to Mars.
Sun OR Mercury in any major aspect to Venus was found in 351 charts.
Sun OR Mercury in any major aspect to Mars was found in 551 charts.
This is a good article that explains passion-motivated suicides and so how impulsiveness and aggressiveness are traits to look for, this would also explain why males do it more. It does seem to work just like with murder, men are more decisive and violent when killing someone while women often opt for passive methods. Men are also the usual criminals behind cases of murder-suicide, the ones to go on a rampage and kill their families or a bunch of strangers and then kill themselves.

His real chart seems to be the one with Gemini rising. Surely a recluse with Sun conjunct Saturn in the 12th makes more sense?

Yes gemini rising. I don't know why last time I clicked on it it showed leo rising. odd
yeah birth certificate confirmed is legit. other than that. I'm still not sold they have even 50% of the famous suicides birth certificates.
Those are singular exceptions.
